The golden oldies had people together dancing in the streets until late into the evening. Friday night started out with introductions from Pe- tersburg Mayor R.J. Klipsch and the National Anthem sang by Gabby Collins. Next up was Adam Houchins coming back to the stage for the first time after his accident. Houchins was accompanied by Collins and Vance Hayes singing a heartfelt 'I'm Proud To Be An American.' Next to hit the stage was 2 Miles Back, playing some groovy rock to the blues genre, with The Duke Boys finishing out the night. People came out Friday evening to enjoy the free car- ousel, a silent auction, beer garden, festival foods, music, and the chance to win big in the half pot drawing. On Saturday, September 24, the day kicked off with pag- eants and craft vendors. Many lovely dressed girls showed up for the Little Miss Buffalo Trace. There was a total of 15 contestants participating in this year's pageant. Winners of the 2022 Little Miss Buffalo Trace Pageant were Aubrianna Hale, with First Runner-Up being Mad- elyn Neyhouse, Second Run- ner-Up Madison McCandless, Third Runner-Up Anistynn Ennis and Fourth Runner-Up Mia Woodall. \ Miss Photogenic went to Aniston Ennis and Directors Awards were given to Vera Wiscaver, Brantleigh Ennis, Harlee Miller, Naomi Boyd, Jocelyn Blemker, Victoria Carrico, Paisley Mikels, Sadie Jones, Harper Houchins and Ava Woodall. All of the of the Miss Buffalo Trace contes- tants had stunning dresses for the crowds to enjoy. The 2022 Miss Buffalo Trace winner was Carlie Hal- brader, with First Runner-up being awarded to Alli Har- din. Second Runner-up was Kenadie Houchins and Third Runner-up went to Calleigh Wibbeler. Miss Photogenic was Police on look-out for thieves in Petersburg By Sherri Sebella News Editor sherri@pressdispatch.net Pike County Sheriff's Dept. received a call of a break-in on Monday, September 19, at a barn near the intersection of County Road 200 South and County Road 500 West. When Police arrived they obser ved the deadbolt and door handle had been smashed and removed from the front door of a barn. A friend of the owner said when he arrived at the prop- erty, the garage door was open and several items were missing. Police retried the handle of the deadbolt and found a partial finger print located on the knob. The deadbolt was placed into evidence to at- tempt to remove the print for identification. Items taken from the barn included two Kobalt toolbox- es containing several hand tools. Approximately 10 extension cords of various lengths were also reported missing, along with several DeWalt power tools labeled "PVCP." A Stihl weed trimmer with brush cutting blade attach- ment, a Honda Generator, and a Polaris Ranger valued at more than $60,000 was also reported missing. Police believe the theft happened in the early hours of Monday morning and two individuals were involved. The suspected same thieves came back on Tues- day, to the owner's home on the Polaris that had been re- ported stolen, and a red four wheeler, and were caught on camera attempting to break into the owner's home. A high-tech security alarm scared the suspects away Indiana State Police investigating death of Petersburg man By Sherri Sebella News Editor sherri@pressdispatch.net Indiana State Police detec- tives are currently investigat- ing the death of Tim Gregor y, 68, of Petersburg. On Tuesday, September 20, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Petersburg Police went to his apartment at 611 Main Street after family members asked to check on his welfare. When police arrived, they found Gregor y dead inside his apart- ment. An autopsy was performed earlier and the Pike County Coroner ruled the manner of death as undetermined. This is an on-going investigation. According to the Pike Coun- ty Prosecutor Darrin McDon- ald, any death where the cause of death is undetermined after finding a victim is always in- vestigated to rule out foul play. On Wednesday morning, at approximately 9:30, accord- ing to witnesses at the scene and police reports, Chelsie Wesley Adams, Nora Houchins, Janet Graft, and Paisley Collins enjoy free carousel rides during the Buffalo Trace Music Festival in Petersburg. Petersburg man charged with attempted murder of ex-boyfriend By Sherri Sebella News Editor sherri@pressdispatch.net "I've been in law enforce- ment for almost 12 years and this is one of the most violent and brutal crimes I have seen against another human be- ing," Petersburg Police Chief Kyle Mills said, about a stab- bing that took place in Peters burg on Tuesday, September 20 at approximately 7:03 p.m. Mills had just placed his body camera on a charger and was responding to assist on a death investigation, when he was dispatched to 1802 E. Al- ford Street in Petersburg. The call was in reference to an ac- cident with injur y, which was l a t e r advised to be a stab- bing.
