B-4 Tuesday, September 27, 2022 South Gibson Star-Times Lady Titan soccer gets three PAC wins on consecutive nights By Andy Heuring Star-Times Sports sports@sgstartimes.com Gibson Southern pushed their record to 10-0 in the Pocket Athletic Conference with three wins on consecu- tive nights last week. On Tuesday the Titans beat Princeton 5-0, then pounded Tell City 10-0 on Wednesday and on Thursday beat Pike Central 3-0. Gibson Southern got off to a slow start against Princeton on Tuesday and the first half ended in a scoreless tie. But they got it going in the second half and put five goals on the board, while holding Prince- ton scoreless. It was a rout from the start against Tell City as Gibson Southern scored eight goals in the first half and added two more in the second half. The Pike Central match was a defensive battle. The Ti- tans score first and led 1-0 at the end of the first half. They would add two more in the second half for a 3-0 win. "We set a goal during the summer to win PAC this year, and so to be at this point in the season already and undefeat- ed in the conference is a good feeling. I'm proud of them for working hard and keeping their mindsets focused during each game," said Lady Titan Coach Sylvia Adler. "Tuesday and Wednes- day we just tried to work on possession and winning the ball of f 50/50s. Our game against Pike Central was good. They are challenging because they step to the ball really well defensively, so we had to adjust by not r unning or passing straight on during attacks. A lot of dif ferent players got playing time in varsity games this past week. We look for ward to our senior honor night on Tuesday and sectionals next week," said Adler. Alyssa Beahl takes a ball on the sideline and gets it back to the center of the field as they beat Pike Cen- tral 3-0 on Thursday. The Lady Titans are 10-0 in the PAC. Titan Ella Jones passes a ball to the center of the field during the Lady Titans 3-0 win on Thursday. Corrine Stevens takes one for the team with a kick to back of her thigh as she and a Pike Central player went after a ball. The Titans won 3-0 to stay undefeated in the PAC. 812-753-3553 • www.SGStarTimes.com Gibson Southern's 2022 girls soccer team members are: Kenzie Shellhaas, Abigail Walls, Kamryn Burger, Halle Evans, Allison Bush, Jenna Loyd, Hadlee Seibert and Leah Kramer; back row: Kylie Jones, MaKindree Sanders, Nola Ravellette, Lainey Cloin, Devyn Brent, Kynlee Reeves, Carly Potts, Lilly Bush, Mabrey Wilson and Cas- sie Reeves.
