James was born Friday, August 2, 1957 in Rutherford County to Edna Bennett Bailey who resides in Chesnee, SC and to the late Robert Leander Bailey. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bailey. Those left to cherish his memory include his part- ner, Martha; a son, Tim Bailey (Beth); a daughter, Stephanie Tomblin (Andy); three grandchildren; three brothers, Keith Bailey (Lora), Mark Bailey, and Craig Bailey (Shelia). DAVID BRUCE THOMAS David Bruce "Heavy" Thomas, 65, of Blacksburg, passed away on Sunday, August 28th, 2022. Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Tammie Johnson Thomas and the son of Herbert Duncan and Mae Sue Hill Duncan. In addition to his wife, Mr. Thomas is survived by a son, Joseph Dean Thomas, a step-son, Jeremiah Wayne Johnson, two broth- ers, Eddie Thomas (Audrey) and Boyd Thomas Jr., three sisters, Tammy Parris, Karen Reynolds, and Lafern Thomas, and three grand- children. JAMES THEADORE WILKIE James "Doc" Theadore Wilkie, 79, of Polkville, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Born in Cleveland County on April 19, 1943, he was a son of the late James Cecil Wilkie and Edna Mae Carico Wilkie. in addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Charlie Wilkie; two brothers, Vaugh Wilkie and Dean Wilkie; and two sis- ters, Margaret Brown and Mary Wilkie. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bumgardner Wilkie; son, Jimmy Wilkie of Icard; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wilkie of Polkville; sister, Elaine Wilkie of Morganton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Born in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of George Zucker and Patricia Whiten- Mullins. In addition to her parents, surviving Ms. Zucker are her fiance, Danny Bayne; two sons, Vincent Hudson, of Blacksburg and Andrew Hudson, of Shelby, NC; one daughter, Haley Blanton of Blacksburg; two brothers, Douglas Zucker, of Gaffney and Jason Zucker, of Gaffney; three sisters, Robin Zucker Hulsey of Gaffney, Holly Zucker of Blacksburg and Anna Zucker, of Gaffney; and four grandchildren. He was born in the Philippines to the late Luis Ompad and Sergia Apa' Dano Igot. He is also preceded in death by three of his sib- lings, Eufrocinia Igot, Orotillo Igot and Marcial Igot; and one granddaughter. Reynaldo leaves to cher- ish his memories his spouse, Metodia Igot; two children, Norafe Bathan and Anna Marsh; and two grandchil- dren. In his memory, family con- sented to donate his organs and tissues. Life Share of the Carolinas were able to transplant his corneas and two people were given a life- changing gift of sight. BILLY DEAN LATHAM Billy "Butch" Dean Latham, age 80 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 Born on February 24, 1942 in Cleveland County, NC, Butch was the son of the late William Mack Latham and Maggie Lee Black Latham. He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda Faye Rollins Latham; his sister, Ann Latham Pruett Cox; and his late sister-in-law, Evelyn Latham. Mr. Latham served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Left to cherish his memory, he is survived by his daughters, Deana Latham Matamoros and Karen Latham Good, both of Shelby, NC; six grandchildren; and his broth- ers, Gene Latham and wife Judy of Shelby, NC, and Floyd Latham of Shelby, NC. Born in Cleveland County on August 4, 1930, he was the son of the late D. Purvis Washburn and Edna Wright Washburn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elvira Bellomo Washburn, his brother Harry Eugene Washburn, Sr., wife Betty, as well as, his brother- in-law, Walter Giles. Mr. Washburn served our country in the U.S. Services during the Korean War, and he was honored with the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, The United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, as well as, the National Defense Service Medal. Gerald is survived by his brother, DP Washburn, wife Lin of Shelby, NC, as well as, his sister, Evelyn Giles of Raleigh, NC.
