Lafayette St. Shelby, NC Across From First Baptist Church www.witherspooninsurance.com On August 24, the Na- tional Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum un- veiled the first officially licensed, limited-edition bobblehead of Bo, Gard- ner-Webb University's official live mascot, who began his service on August 26th, 2021. The bobblehead is being re- leased to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Bo becoming the mas- cot. The special edition bobblehead, represent- ing Bo as a puppy, was produced by the Na- tional Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. Sitting on a circu- lar red and green base bearing his name on the front and Gardner- Webb on the back, the Bo bobblehead is in a sitting position and wear- ing a red collar with a tag that reads BO. The bobbleheads, which will be individually num- bered to 2,022, are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Muse- um's Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are scheduled to ship by Au- gust 31st, cost $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. Bo, who celebrated his first birthday on May 4th, is an English Bull- dog who came from a breeder in Garner, North Carolina. He officially started his duties as an ambassador on August 26th, 2021, and like his predecessors, he has been busy represent- ing Gardner-Webb on campus and in the com- munity. He can be seen connecting with alumni and supporting the Run- nin' Bulldogs at home athletic and other com- munity and outreach events. "We hope our fans and alumni act fast to secure their own Gardner-Webb mascot "Bo" bobblehead unveiled Students who complete required checklist items by Jan. 25, 2023, will receive additional benefits College-bound stu- dents, who are ready to join the Runnin' Bulldog family at Gardner-Webb University, now have the Early Admission Advan- tage option for Fall 2023. Students who choose this option and meet all the qualifications and dead- lines will be accepted for the fall and be notified of an estimated financial aid package by Jan. 16, 2023. Students admitted as part of the new early ac- tion program will receive additional scholarship op- portunities, priority hous- ing, and free parking for the 2023-24 academic year. "At Gardner-Webb, we want to get out of the gate early," explained Presi- dent William Downs. "We want to compete now for the best and brightest who will comprise the GWU Class of 2027, and we want to get them started on their path to success immediately. The deci- sion of where to attend college is a big one, and preparations for university life should not be left to the last minute. With our new Early Admission Ad- vantage initiative, students can gain the assurances they need in order to be ready for Fall 2023." Interim Vice President for Enrollment Manage- ment Mavia Lee explained that the early option allows students to get the applica- tion process out of the way earlier and receive accep- tance sooner. "Becoming a part of our Early Admis- sions Advantage program removes the stress and gives students a chance to enjoy all the traditions of their senior year and more time to plan," Lee noted. "In addition, applying to Gardner-Webb's Early Ad- missions Advantage pro- gram can help candidates with strong applications to stand out from the crowd." To be eligible for GWU Early Admission Advan- tage for Fall 2023, stu- dents are required to meet the following deadlines: • Complete the Gard- ner-Webb Application and FAFSA by Nov. 21, 2022. • Submit the Admis- sions offer confirmation form by Dec. 1, 2022. • Incoming Student Housing Applications open on Dec. 1, 2022. • Submit Housing Ap- plication Form and Enroll- ment Deposit by Jan. 25, 2023. • Priority Housing Se- lection will open on Feb. 27, 2023, at 6 a.m. • Priority Housing Se- lection will close on March 5, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. Students can learn more about Gardner- Webb and Early Admis- sion Advantage at Dawg Day events on Sept. 24 and Nov. 19. Activities include a campus tour, in- formation fair with faculty from various areas, and an option to visit with the Financial Planning staff. Throughout the years, the bulldog has been represented in numer- ous forms. Live bulldogs, costumed mascots and athletic branded logos have all been featured in some fashion for GWU. =Bo is the university's seventh live mascot, dating back to Butch I, who served from 1944 to 1953. Butch II and Chins followed before there were no live mascots for over four decades. The live mascot program returned with Barney from 2010 to 2014 be- fore he was replaced by Roebuck. "Bucky" was designated with Mascot Emeritus status. "We're excited to cre- ate this bobblehead of Bo, the busiest bulldog in North Carolina," Na- tional Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said.
