Then you prayed for him to do something for you and you didn't get it? I have. I actually got upset with God because he didn't do what I thought he should have done for me, although I had just prayed to be in his perfect will. Sometimes we are prideful and think that we know more than God, especially about when and how we should receive our blessing. We, the creation, shake our fists at God and demand that he accomplishes our plans instead of his, but that is backwards and silly. Romans 9:20a (NIV) states, "But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?" We must always remember that our Heavenly Father knows what's best for us. CLOSED DOORS In Christ, closed doors are just as good as open doors. He has the power to place you exactly where you need to be, even if you don't un- derstand what God is doing. Isaiah 22:22 (NIV) states, "I will place on his shoul- der the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open." Stop brooding over that relation- ship that didn't work, the job that didn't hire you, or the person who overlooked you. God closed that door to give you a better relationship, or a greater position. Don't settle for less than God's best! It's not time to be discouraged. Get excited - the best is yet to come! MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO Israel wanted a king like other nations. God gave them several reasons why they should give up the idea. He warned them tha t the kings would make them slaves, take 10% of their money, take their children and property, etc. However, they refused to listen to him. Beware of trying to keep up with and comparing you r life to others, especially on social media. It may ap- pear that they have experi- enced overnight success, o r that their family is perfect, while it seems like it's tak- ing forever for you to move forward. We must take ou r eyes off other people and keep them on our Lord and Savior who is quite aware of what we need and when we need it. Psalm 123:1 (CEV) states, "Our LORD and ou r God, I turn my eyes to you, on your throne in heaven." PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Sovereign Father, how great are the riches of you r wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand your de- cisions and your ways! I praise you for being abso- lutely amazing, powerful, and good. There is none like you. There is none greate r than you! You are the true and living God! Forgive me for not always surrender- ing to your will, and gettin g upset with you when I didn't get my desire. You are never late - you are always on time.
