Born June 22, 1942 in Shelby, NC, he was a son of the late Baxter and Bertha Scruggs. Surviving are his chil- dren, Mark Scruggs and his spouse, Shelley, of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Eva Desfrancs and her spouse, Edouard, of Charleston, SC; siblings, Jerry Scruggs and Danny Scruggs and his spouse, Wanda, all of Shelby, NC; and four grand- children. A private graveside ser- vice was held on Saturday, August 13, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. PAMELA WARD BROWN Pamela Ward Brown, age 63, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Pamela is survived by her children, Tippette Holcombe and Amber Holcombe; her mother, Marjorie Sue Biddy Ward; one brother, Marshall Ward; and two sisters, Tina Wilson and Diane Dotson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Brown and her father, Grover Morris Ward. A celebration of life was held August 18, 2022 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, 118 College Ave., Rutherfordton NC 28139 with Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. RANDY STEPHEN ROPP Mr. Randy Stephen Ropp, age 75, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022. A native of Cleveland county, he was born March 17, 1947, son of the late Russell Sheffield and Grace Margaret Champion Ropp. Mr. Ropp is survived by two sons; Richard Ropp and wife Tracy of Boiling Springs, NC, Russell Stephen Ropp of Shelby; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, two brothers, Barry Green of Boiling Springs and Marvin Green of Forest City. A Funeral Service was held August 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Black offici- ating. HARRILL ROSS ELLIS Mr. Harrill Ross Ellis, 83, of Cherryville, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Mr. Ellis was born on December 17, 1938 in Cleveland County, NC, a son of the late Miller Ross Ellis and Ella Gertrude McSwain Ellis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ellis; two brothers, Herbert and Billy Joe Ellis; two sisters, Vernie Bess and Louise Ward and a stepdaughter, Karyn Jean Williamson. Survivors include his wife, Jean Lancaster Ellis of the home; two daughters, Nicki Huntsinger and husband, Rev. Douglas Huntsinger of Elgin, SC; Jodi Parker of Shelby; one stepdaughter, two stepsons and numer- ous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church in Lincolnton with the Revs. Rick Hensley and Richard Jenkins officiating. Burial was private. EDITH BANKS-THOENNES Mrs. Edith Banks- Thoennes, 76, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 She was born on October 1, 1945 in Shelby, NC. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Lillie Bell Banks; her son, Lewis Ross and two bothers, James Carson and Matthew Carson all of Shelby, NC. She leaves to cherish memories, two daughters, Leisa Jones (husband Jonnie Jones) of Shelby, NC and Irena Smith of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Mary Brooks of Shelby, NC, Carolyn McGill (husband Joseph McGill) of Kings Mountain, NC and Minnie Beam (husband Willie Beam) of Shelby, NC, six grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, and six great- great grandchildren. HORACE E. BLANTON Horace "Bubba" E. Blanton, 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert and Bessie Bingham Blanton. Mr. Blanton served our country in the U.S. in the Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his sis- ters, Catherine, Martha and Heidi; and brother, Jimmy. He is survived by his son, Chad Blanton and wife Tracy of Boiling Springs; sis- ters, Julie Dover and hus- Kay Putnam and husband Bruce of Boiling Springs.
