Born in Fallston, NC on May 28, 1932 to the late Miles Fred Hoyle and Edith Inez Murray Hoyle, he was predeceased by his wife, Caroleen Walters-McCall Hoyle and his siblings, Everette "Speedy" Hoyle, M. F. Hoyle Jr., Sally Pearson, David Hoyle, Edith Hoyle and Julius Hoyle. He is survived by his chil- dren: Tom (Candy) McCall of Burlington, NC; Rick (Andrea) McCall of Huntersville, NC; Ann (Patrick) Moore of Wilmington, NC; Bob (Sandra) McCall of Tryon, NC, three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his companion Jane Adams of Cherryville, NC. Mr. Hoyle served our coun- try in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A graveside ser- vice with military honors was held August 8, 2022 at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston. Mrs. Whetstine is sur- vived by her husband, David Whetstine, of the home; children: Bobby Whetstine (Susan Steffen), Charlotte, NC, and Tinna Helms (Roger), Kings Mountain, NC; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Cooke; sister- in-law, Diane Whetstine; and a granddaughter-in-law. Born in Cleveland County on July 26, 1944, he was a son of the late Dwight McLynden Tallent and Catherine Martin Tallent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn B. Tallent and two brothers, Bob Tallent and Kelly Tallent. Survivors include one son, Michael Tallent (April) of Hickory; one daughter, Kimberley Tallent of Shelby; one sister, Ginger Lusk (Leroy) of Vale; and two grandchildren.
