They were sung by those who journed to the Tem- ple for the annual festival. It still applies today. When we take our cares and trou- bles to the Lord, he hears and answers. "In His Time" A chorus from several years ago proclaims that God "makes all things beautiful in His time." We would like that time to be now, but God's timing is not our timing. He doesn't tell us the exact time when Jesus will return and all things will become new, but we can de- pend on God fulfilling His promises. "He will wipe ever y tear from their eyes. CHURCH "When you go through deep waters , I will be with you, When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown, When you walk through fire of oppression Suffering in silence I have a ver y old dachshund name Wolfgang. Ever yone calls him Wolfy. I got him from a rescue shelter about 14 years ago. He was about three years old and severely abused. Now he's about 18 years old, which is nearly 90 in human years. After bringing Wolfy home and giving him lots of atten- tion, he came out of his shell. It didn't take long for Wolfy to show the typical dachshund domineering attitude. He wasn't friendly to strangers and became known as the an- gr y one. Eventually, I got another dachshund named Dexter. To- gether they became partners in crime and Wolfy lost his angr y side most of the time. Watching the two dogs play reminded me that God said it is not good that man should be alone, so he created a woman. God does not want people to live alone. The Ecclesiastes writer says, "Two [are] better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him [who is] alone when he falls, For [he has] no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm [alone]? Though one may be overpowered by an- other, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken," Ec 4:9-11. Pets give unconditional love and devotion. They have their Hello, readers, how you do- ing? Another week which has been typical of our family. We have been busy as a 10 tailed cat at a rocking chair contest. We were blessed with my wife's cousin from Califor- nia and we were busy doing things with her. Of course there doesn't seem to be a week without a doctor appointment for one of us. I went to a different doc- tor last Monday to follow up on my liver problems and the veins in my throat. I am not having problems with these veins, but hemochromotosis can cause them to swell so you have to keep check on them. I ended up with two more ap- pointments for an ultra sound of the liver and an endoscopy to check the throat. Yes we have appointments this week as well and there is no let up. It seems as though anytime you are free to get something done it rains or something else tears up and shows itself. Whoever came up with Mur- phy's law sure knew what they were talking about. We have lived in our home for 34 years and our yard is all sand, which flows with the rainfall so our landscape has changed many times. If you don't like the yard just wait it will be different soon. It keeps things interesting. We had a called meeting of the Pike County CASA board at Randy's and the wife's cous- in got to eat at Randy's after our meeting. She liked all the nostalgia in the restruant. Connie and her even got their picture taken in the vault. They have several cousins who live in Vincennes so one The Bible on the floor "…Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy name" (Psa. 138:2). As I passed by my study the other night, I noticed that I had left a Bible lying on the floor next to a chair. In study- ing I had put it down momen- tarily to consult a reference book and had neglected to pick it up again. Now, as I caught a fleeting glimpse of that blessed Book lying there, it bothered me; in fact it bothered me enough to make me go back and pick it up and put it where it be- longed. Then I began wondering why so trivial a matter had troubled me. Was it because I remembered how dad would never allow anything to lie on top of the Bible? Had mere sentiment confused my think- ing? Surely the Word of God is forever settled in heaven and that book lying on the floor was only paper, ink and a leather cover. Or was it? Was it not also the Word of God as given to us? And as such, was it not representative of God Himself? If our countr y's flag must be treated with honor and respect; if it is sacrilege to treat it as mere cloth, how much more is this so where the Holy Bible is concerned! No, it was not merely dad's example that came to mind as I saw the Bible lying there: certainly it was not only that. Rather it was a Scripture pas- sage of which he often remind- Points to Ponder By Curtis Bond Minutes with the Bible By Pastor Cornelius R.
