Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower oth- ers to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feath- ers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristotle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to en- tertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the August issue of Diversity Rules Mag- azine. It is hard to believe we are halfway through summer already! The me is flying by. This month's feature focuses on the 2022 Slay Mod- el Search and the Road to the Runway. Road to the Runway, Here-TV's new docu-series premiering Fri- day, August 5, examines the roles that gender, race, socio-economic status, and familial approval play in the lives of young, beau ful women char ng their course toward fashion's latest fron er: the trans- gender supermodel. The series profiles the twenty hopefuls compe ng in this year's annual Slay Model search. Cameras follow the women to their home- towns to uncover their roots: the environments they were reared in and the circumstances that helped shape them into the beau ful, statuesque, fashion- able young women they are today. Execu ve pro- duced by GLAAD-award winner, Cecilio Asuncion and Phil Anthony, RD Alba and produced by Emmy-award winner David Millbern, Paul Colichman, Stephen P. Jarchow and John Mongiardo, Road to the Runway is an important reminder that these Trans models are more than mannequins: they are daughters, friends, and partners in love, with stories that deserve to be heard. The cover picture is the 2022 Slay Model Search win- ner, Jasmine Gabrielle. I know it's somewhat of a spoiler, but given the nature of today's social media, the winner's name is known already.
