WASHINGTON COUNTY FAIR CONLEY MEDIA JULY 2022 5 By Melanie Boyung Special to the Daily News WASHINGTON COUNTY – Wednesday, July 27 will be Military Day at the Wash- ington County Fair, recog- nizing and honoring mili- tary members and veterans for their service to the nation. The Washington County Fair will run from Tuesday, July 26 until Sunday, July 31 at the county fairgrounds at Highway P and Pleas with Military Day celebrated on the second day. For Military Day, members of the mili- tary with identification will receive free admission to the county fair for them- selves and a guest. The festivities to honor the military will begin with the Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m. The Opening Ceremony will be held outside the West Bend Mutual Insur- ance Pavilion building at the fairgrounds. Kellie Boone, executive director of the Washington County Fair Park and Conference Center, said the ceremony would include a color guard and the flag raising, with the National Anthem being played. According to the fair's schedule, the rest of the Military Day activities will happen in the Ziegler Fami- ly Expo Building. • From 11:30 a.m. until noon, there will be a Fallen Soldiers Flag Folding demonstration. • From 12:45 pm. to 1:30 p.m., the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight group will present information on the program, which raises money for organized trips, on which Stars and Stripes flies veterans to Washing- ton DC to see the memorials for the wars they fought in. • At 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m., Wisconsin's Forgotten Hero. "It's a presentation that a gentleman gives on Lt. Karl Kellner, who was from Wis- consin and was lost in WWII," Boone said. "It's a very interesting presentation," she added. • From 3:30 to 4 p.m., WWII veteran spotlight presentation. • 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Sil- verbrook Dance Team will perform. • From 5 to 7:30 p.m., the 4-H Clothing Revue. Boone said that the revue is the time when 4-H participants who entered the fair's cloth- ing categories can present their work to be seen. • 8:15 p.m., Flag Retire- ment ceremony. The Military Day events at this year's Washington County Fair are sponsored by Delta Defense, according to fair information.
