Por sexta ocasión diversas organizaciones de la ciudad de Tulsa se han unido para celebrar la Feria Anual de Recursos de Regreso a la Escuela. Un evento que siempre es muy esperado por las familias, espe- cialmente de la comunidad hispana, ya que duran- te esta feria de recursos los asistentes reciben úti- les escolares, servicios médicos, ayuda en asistencia social e información para sus hijos que están pronto a regresar a la escuela. En esta Feria Anual de Recursos de Regreso a la Escuela, algunas de las organizaciones partici- pantes son: La Coalición de Organizaciones Hispa- nas (COHO, por sus siglas en inglés), Tulsa Tech, las Escuelas Públicas de Tulsa, Tulsa Area United Way y la Biblioteca Regional Martin. Es importante señalar que este gran evento se lle- vará a cabo el sábado 13 de agosto a partir de las 9:00 de la mañana hasta las 12:00 del mediodía, en el Cam- pus Tulsa Tech Lemley Memorial, ubicado en el 3350 S. Memorial Dr. de la ciudad Tulsa. "Este gran evento comunitario involucra a más de 30 organizaciones comunitarias, agencias y nego- cios locales. Gracias a sus generosas donaciones de útiles escolares podemos ayudar a los estudiantes y familias necesitadas a prepararse para el nuevo año escolar. Además, el evento familiar gratuito contará con distribución de suministros y una feria de recursos bajo techo donde los socios de la comunidad brinda- rán servicios, juegos e información gratuita para que los estudiantes tengan un año escolar exitoso. Los niños en edad escolar que asistan recibirán suministros y apoyo para el regreso a clases gratui- tamente, por ejemplo: Mochilas con útiles escolares, cortes de cabello, exámenes dentales; vacunas reque- ridas para la escuela, asistencia de inscripción en las Escuelas Públicas de Tulsa e información sobre lectu- ra, ayuda con la tarea y nutrición. Es importante aclarar que, los niños deben estar presentes para recibir útiles escolares y hay un límite de una mochila por niño. Durante esta feria de recursos no solo los estu- diantes serán bene! ciados, sino también las familias que asistan, ya que las organizaciones que participa- rán durante este evento, estarán ofreciendo al públi- co en general, las vacunas COVID-19, asistencia con las solicitudes de SNAP, inscripción en SoonerCare y Medicaid, e inscripción a Internet gratuito o con pre- cio reducido. "Nuestra meta es ayudar al mayor número de familias posible con los gastos que implica el regre- so a clases y asegurar que los niños estén preparados para el primer día de clases. Este es un evento que es posible gracias al apoyo de las organizaciones y nego- cios que se unen a nuestros esfuerzos donando las mochilas, los útiles escolares, ofreciendo servicios y recursos para las familias. Me siento agradecida por la oportunidad de poder ser parte de la plani! cación de este evento que por 6to. año consecutivo traemos a nuestra comunidad", comentó Maricarmen Mit- chell, gerente de Servicios Comunitarios de las Escue- las Públicas de Tulsa.
