Ads Work! ©Community First Media Community First Media No matter how much we think that we are prepared to handle a loss, no one is really ready for the pain of grief. It could be the ending of a relationship, the loss of a job or ultimately the death of a loved one, that triggers an emotional response which is overwhelming and debilitating. The pain of grief is unlike any other pain. We may revert to medication or some other type of therapy, but the when the effects wear off the throbbing of an emotional upheaval will still persist. Feelings of helplessness invade our life as we begin to realize the permanence of losing someone. Your thoughts are continually on replay mode. Remembering a smell, a touch, or the sound of a voice, briefl y resurrects the one you loved. Even your dreams are invaded by past events. The pain of grief screams out for an answer to why this had to happen. Perhaps, if we could have done better or made another choice then our loss would have been avoided. There really is no remedy for the pain of grief. The sorrow we experience when loss enters our world is proof of our humanity. Sharing your experience with others will provide a certain level of comfort, but there will always be those lonely hours of hidden pain. Our life has forever been changed. The only hope we have is to learn how to walk again. We cannot allow the pain of grief to permanently cripple us. As each new day arrives, we must take small steps. We are slowly learning how to live with the pain. We can draw strength from God's enabling grace as we face life with faith and courage.
