FOR THE PEOPLE! FOR THE PEOPLE! During the year 2022 most members of the Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School Class of 1965 will celebrate their 75th birthday. The class's reunion committee has planned events to commemorate this three quarters of a century mark the weekend of July 15 and 16. Class member Pat Nanney saw the opportunity to have his friends and Carolina Beach Music Award winning duo Rick Strickland and Lesa Hudson to perform in Forest City on Friday evening July 15 at The Twisted Pear in Forest City. Rick, Lesa and the band have had 26 number one hits on radio stations that feature beach and shag music and have won 27 Carolina Beach Music Awards. They are the only group in the market to successfully compose, produce and perform 100% of their own original music. Rick was inducted into the Beach Music Hall Of Fame in 2017 and Lesa was awarded the Female Vocalist Of The Year in 2018. Their song "A Little More Love" was the CMBA song of the year in 2020. Rick and Lesa's playlist covers a gamut of musical styles to please audiences of all preferences. Rick and Lesa will take the stage at The Pear from 7-10pm Friday, July 15. The event is free and open to the public. This will be just a week from Pat's 75th birthday and he hopes you will come celebrate with his classmates and him and welcome Rick and Lesa to Forest City.
