A-8 Tuesday, June 28, 2022 South Gibson Star-Times Expired plates nets drug charges Nathan Wineinger, of Pe- tersburg, was charged with possession of methamphet- amine, driving while suspend- ed, possession of marijuana and possession of parapher- nalia in connection with a traf- fic stop June 15 on Ind. 64 in Princeton. According to the probable cause, the officer noticed ex- pired plates, which he con- firmed before stopping the white Dodge Dart at the Wash- ington Street intersection. Two officers said they smelled burnt marijuana when they approached the vehicle, and Wineinger, who was driv- ing with his dog in the car, told them he'd smoked marijuana 15 minutes earlier. Wineinger had been sus- pended from driving since September 2012, police discov- ered, due to a prior conviction. When they searched the ve- hicle they discovered a clear glass pipe with a green glass skull on one end in the driv- er's side door, which appeared to have burnt residue on it. Wineinger told them he'd smoked methamphetamine from it the day before, and there was methamphetamine in a bag inside the vehicle door—officers found the bag and it field tested positive for meth. They also located a gold metal pipe with burnt residue and a bag of greens that field tested as marijuana, as well as a loaded 9mm gun magazine. Wineinger told police there was a Taurus 9mm GC2 in the trunk. After transporting Wineinger to the Gibson County Jail they turned his dog over to a friend. Man who put knife, hammock in pants arrested Ronnie Chambers, 41, of Vincennes, appeared in court June 21 to request counsel on felony theft and misdemeanor theft charges. According to the proba- ble cause, Menards security called police about a theft- in-progress May 21, after they witnessed Chambers putting a knife in his pocket. Between the time they called and police arrived, security told them they had also seen him put a nylon double ham- mock down the front of his pants. Police stopped Chambers in the parking lot, took him into the security room, and found the stolen items on his person. He had no wallet or money on him. The hammock cost $9.99 plus tax, and the knife $31.99. Chambers had a previous criminal conversion charge from 2009, so he was charged with theft with a prior convic- tion—a felony. Besing, Travelstead arrested on drug charges following domestic dispute Two were arrested after an Oakland City domestic distur- bance call June 15. According to the proba- ble cause affadavit, Zachar y Besing and his girlfriend were having an argument and she called police after he spit in her face. When police arrived, Susan Travelstead was on scene waiting on Besing. While the girlfriend only wanted Being to leave without pressing charges, Travelstead was asked by police if there were drugs in the car and she said not to her knowledge multiple times. She eventually handed the a Gibson County Sheriff's Of- fice sergeant a plastic bag of what appeared to be marijua- na. Travelstead said Besing put items in her purse. The purse had methamphetamine and two colorful glass pipes inside. Besing, who was on parole, failed a drug test given by a parole agent. Besing, of Oakland City, was charged with felony meth- amphetamine possession, pos- session of marijuana and pos- session of paraphernalia. In court June 17, bond was set at $750, and his hearing set for July 6. Travelstead was charged with possession of metham- phetamine, possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction and possession of marijuana. Her initial hearing is set for June 28.
