I am so excited to tell you about Cleve- land County Bass Anglers. This is a youth fi shing league formed in Cleveland County almost a year ago. It is a league for young anglers be- tween middle school through 12th grade, that fi sh competitively against other "high school" leagues in NC Bass Master Nation Series. Barry Self and Keith Latham wanted to make sure the Cleveland County youth had the same opportunities as other counties in NC had, to fi sh com- petitively. They worked delinquently to get the correct infor- mation, talk to the right people and made it happen. In 2021, the Cleveland County Bass Anglers had 18 teams, 4 of which made the fi nals, and 2 of those went to the fi nal round. The 2021 season is over, and when school starts back, it will be the 2022 season. The youth fi shing league only fi sh 6 tournaments a year, 3 in the fall and 3 in the spring. On June 21st, there will be a gathering at the Bobby Bell Pavilion in uptown Shelby at 6:30 This an open invite for anyone in the age bracket the opportunity to get information about joining the team and meet with last year's team members. Oh, and Matt Arey, a local Pro Angler from our county, who also helped Barry and Keith get the league formed, will be there with his truck and boat during this meeting also. Ya'll, this is a great thing for the local kids. If you have a kid who loves to fi sh, would like to fi sh competitively and have fellowship with others their age that enjoy to fi sh, Please try to attend this meeting.
