Page 10 - shelby shopper & info - 704/484-1047 www.shelbyinfo.com Thursday, May 19-May 25, 2022 Yetis Finish 2nd in Region 10 Championship The Cleveland Community College Baseball team fi nished second in the Region 10 DII Tour- nament held in Morehead City, NC May 5-8. The Yetis entered the tournament as the #3 seed from the West Division and were paired against the East Division #2 seed Pitt Community College to start the tournament held at Big Rock Stadium. The team would drop game one to Pitt on Thursday by a score of 12-6 and move to the elim- ination bracket in the double elimination tournament. On Friday, the Yetis would defeat Bryant and Stratton 12-8 led by homeruns from Robert Moya, Mike Huber, and Darian Munoz. On Saturday, the team would win 11-7 over Wake Technical Community College as Kyras Dawson would homer. Later on Saturday, the Yetis run ruled the #1 East Division seed Bruns- wick Community College 13-2 with homers from Moya and Huber. Janniel Berroa would go 5.1 innings in a strong pitching performance. On Championship Sunday, the Yetis would win the elimination bracket by defeating the de- fending Region 10 and South Atlantic District champions, Patrick & Henry Community College by a score of 12-4. The Yetis had homers against P&H CC by Huber and Tyler Casciato to move to the Region 10 Championship Game. The Yetis would fall in the fi nal 6-2 against Catawba Valley Community College in their sixth game in four days. The Yetis fi nished the 2022 season with 31 wins. "This was an incredible run for our team," said Head Coach Tyler Dawson. "Just making the tournament was a huge accomplishment for a second year program but making it to the cham- pionship is unbelievable. These guys have worked hard all year and I'm proud for their success." The Yetis fi nish the season with a 31-23 overall record including four Region 10 weekend series sweeps.
