Larry was born Wednesday, July 21, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Elbert Whitener and Mattie Louise Fowler Whitener. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Sue Whitener; sister, Sarah Jeanette Crook; and a broth- er, Melvin Whitener, Sr. Left to cherish fond mem- ories include his daughter, Tammy Whitener (Bill) of Forest City; sister-in-law, Judy Whitener of Forest City, and brother-in-law, Joe Bennett of Mooresboro. Born in Cleveland County on December 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Hoyle and Bessie Lee Mellon Hoyle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Hoyle; one son-in-law, Dale Hullette and one brother, James Hoyle. Survivors include two sons, Danny Allen and wife Rebekah of Bessemer City and Gary Hoyle of Morganton; two daugh- ters, Deborah Allen of Vale and Patty Allen Hullette of Lincolnton; two broth- ers, Steve Hoyle of Shelby and Bobby Hoyle of Vale; three sisters, Ruby Hoyle of Shelby, Annie Ruth Green of Lawndale and Louise Hull of Hickory; and seven grand- children and fifteen great grandchildren. She was born in Chestertown, MD, the daughter of the late James Allen Bailey and Louise Beck Bailey and was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thomas Styers Sr. Becky was also preced- ed in death by two daugh- ters, Debra Lynn Styers and Tracy Styers Oliver; a grand- daughter; and her brother-in- law, Joe Subolefsky. She is survived by her children: Richard Thomas Styers Jr. and wife Tammy, Grover, NC and Lynn Styers Swink and husband Paul, Kings Mountain, NC; sib- lings: Carolyn Subolefsky and Jimmy Bailey and wife Lydia; and four grandchil- dren and nine great grand- children. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Tameka Byrd (Trey) of Grover, NC; his sis- ters, Catherine Corry (Eddie Dean) of Cowpens, Jackie Corry and Sandra Davis, both of Blacksburg, Janice Spann of Gaffney, and Ree Camp of Cowpens; and five grandchildren.
