Did you end up in a heated discussion with that person or did you politely keep quiet and try to change the subject? Whatever you decided to do, you probably were glad that the conversation was finally over. In the same way I wonder how God feels or what he thinks when he lis- tens to us pray to him requests that are against his nature, in disagree- ment to his word and that is sim- ply not his will. This could be why we haven't gotten the answers we were hoping for. God earnestly as a loving Father wants to answer our prayers, but he's looking for people to simply believe in Him and pray in alignment with his holy will found in the scriptures. He wants us to walk with him on this jour- ney following him wholeheartedly. Amos 3:3 (NLT) "Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?" Bow Down When we decided to repent or make a 180 turn from our sins, ask for forgiveness and receive Jesus into our hearts, we were in essence saying "Lord I believe that you are God and I am not. I don't know ev- erything but you do. I submit my life to you. Have your way!" How much more powerful our prayers will become when we not only pray with others in faith and agree- ment, but pray to God in complete humility, and unity of his word and heart. I John 5:14-15 "This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him." When is the last time you prayed, "Lord what is on your mind. What would you like me to do? It's not about my desires, but yours. I want to please you." I Peter 5:6 (NLT) "So humble your- selves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor." PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Lord, you are good and your mercy endures forever. What an honor it is to be able to come humbly to the Creator of the Uni- verse and obtain mercy in the time of need. I know that you love me. Forgive me for being disagreeable at times. I ask for you to help me renew my mind by your word. As I walk with you on this journey of life, lead and guide me. Father, show me how to please you. I hum- bly submit to your will.
