All donations can be mailed to City Hall at 704 East Main Street, Petersburg, IN 47567 CAROLE JANE DAVIDSON Carole Jane Davidson, 79, of Hazleton, passed away Thurs- day, May 12, 2022, at Deacon- ess Gibson Hospital, in Princ- eton. She was born November 28, 1942 in Washington to the late A zel and Jewel (Traylor) Mill- er. She married Garry Lee Da- vidson on December 20, 1959. She was a member of Salem Chapel and worked as a florist at Buehler's. As a farm wife, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grand- kids often being found watch- ing their ballgames as she was a sports fanatic. She had a knack for playing cards and loved playing the piano. She was loved and will be missed. She is survived by her chil- dren, Barry (Cindy) Davidson, of Hazleton and Julie (Bob) Bugher, of Hazleton; grand- children, John (Brianne) Da- vidson, Joe (Brittany) David- son, Hannah Davidson, Mi- chael (Ashlyn Anthis) Bugh- er, and Jaleigh (Luke Pheral) Bugher-Pheral; great-grand- children, Abigale, Jordyn, Is- abella, Ezra, Abrey, Brooklyn, Chase, Cole, Olivia, and A zel; and her special animal com- panion, her dog, Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her hus- band, Garry. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Colvin Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Gary Ar- nold. She was born on March 19, 1927 to Floyd and Annis (Bell) Davis in Dutchtown. She retired after 45 years as a bookkeeper for Elmer Buch- ta Trucking. She was a mem- ber of Otwell United Method- ist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved quilt- ing, cooking, sewing, and reading. She is survived by daugh- ters, Charlene (Tim) Leinen- bach, Marlene Lorey, Lesa (Bryan) Seng, and Carmen (Greg) Coleman; daughter- in-law, Joni Hollis; sister, Vir- ginia Polen; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Daniel Hollis, in 1988; her sons, Paul David and Dennis Wayne Hol- lis; four brothers; and two sis- ters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Otwell United Meth- odist Church, with Pastors Jeff Pinney and Greg Davis offici- ating. Burial will follow at Ot- well Cemetery. HAIRE Bradley Ray "Brad" Haire, 55, of Reed passed away Tues- day May 10, 2022, at his home. He was born in Henderson on February 23, 1967 to the late Robert Haire Jr. and Culet- ti ( Varble) Haire. Brad was a retired Carpen- ter from Local 224. He loved hunting, fishing and spend- ing time with his family. He attended Beals Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Pam; two sons, Andrew Haire, of Petersburg, River Haire, of Evansville; sis- ter, Karen (Tony) Mattingly, of Henderson; brother, Dar- rell (Debbie) Haire, of Floyds Knobs; one grandson; father- in-law, Franklin (Betty) Coo- per; brother-in-law, Billy (Car- olyn) Cooper; sister-in-law, Tammy (Tony) Bullington; and several nieces and neph- ews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2022, at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel, with Rev. J.W. Haire and Rev. Barry Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery. CAROLYN JUNE GAINES Carolyn June Gaines, 81, of Algiers passed away peace- fully, surrounded by family, on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Amber Manor Care Center. She was born October 23, 1940, in Otwell, to Harry and Edna Padgett. She graduated from Otwell High School in 1958. On Sep- tember 5 th , 1964, she married Larry Gaines, and they built a wonderful life together. While Larry worked away from home in Illinois, she stayed at home in Algiers raising their three children, Angie, Missy, and Steve. A fter their children left home, she worked at Walmart in Washington. She attended Algiers Unit- ed Methodist Church. She was a wonderful cook and home- maker. She enjoyed working puzzles, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored. She is survived by her hus- band, Larry; her three chil- dren, Angie (Mike) Gray, Mis- sy (Kevin) Cummins, Steve ( Jennifer) Gaines; grandchil- dren, Tanner and Kaylee Gray, Trevor and Peyton Cummins, Erica (Henry) Steckler and Connor Gaines; great-grand- son, Bennett Steckler; and step-grandchildren, Nate and Ella McGregor; sisters, Gayle (Robert) Thompson and Pat- ty (Mark) Russell; nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Marilyn Kinder. Preceding her in death were her parents. Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Algiers United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Otwell Cemetery. TERR ANCE "TERRY" LEE MIRES Terrance "Terry" Lee Mires, 82, passed away at home surrounded by his lov- ing family, on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was the eldest son of the late Elmer and Marjorie (Fitz- gerald) Mires, was born on November 12, 1939, in Chey- enne, Wyoming. He was united in marriage on April 19, 1986, to Betty J. Farmer, and they spent the next 36 years happily together. He was a proud Veteran hav- ing served in the United States Navy as a Propulsion Electri- cian. He was employed for over 40 years in a variety of mechanical and electrical su- pervisory positions in his ten- ure with Union Pacific Rail- road, Morrison Knudsen, Na- tional Railway, and then re- tiring from Indiana Southern Railroad as the Chief Mechan- ical/Electrical Officer. He was a loving husband, fa- ther, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, broth- er, uncle, and brother-in-law, who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mires, of Petersburg; his children, Gary Mires, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sharie Jamieson, of Australia, Can- die (David) Robinson, of N. D., Laura Farmer, of Switzer- land, Kathy (Corey) Ziebach, of Petersburg, Nancy (Ryan) Feeney, of Washington, Patri- cia Frederick, of Petersburg, Patrick (Regina) Farmer, of Winslow, and Carolyn (Cody) Zimmerman, of Petersburg; 23 grandchildren; 5 great-grand- children; his brother, Burton "Butch" (Mary Jane) Mires, of McCook, Neb.; a sister, Janice "Jan" Tolly; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mar- jorie Mires; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Tolly; a daugh- ter, Mary J. Farmer Brigham; and a son-in-law, Michael K. Frederick. A funeral service with mil- itary honors will be at 5 p.m. EST, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Lamb-Basham Me- morial Chapel located at 226 E. Washington Street in Oak- land City, Indiana. He will be laid to rest at Walnut Hill Cem- etery, in Petersburg. Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until time of service, at the chapel.
