The Pike Central Middle School Academic team competed in the Purdue Uni- versity Academic Super Bowl . The math and interdisciplinary teams both placed third. Mr. Kal-El Wright was Principal for the Day. Wright is a seventh grader at Pike Central Middle School. Gracie Pauw learns about moon phases with Mrs. Weisman's foam board moon-phase simulator. Mrs. Weisman talks to Mikey McCoy about the moon phases. Addilyn Fancher tries on the foam board moon- phase simulator. The kindergarten students went on a walking field trip to the Igloo. They celebrated the letter "I" with ice cream. The Igloo opened early just for the students and donated ice cream for everyone! Erika Newkirk, owner of the Center Street Salon in Winslow, talked to Mrs. Shedd's students about own- ing her own business. Then the class got to see Mrs. Shedd get a new haircut! Faith Hagemeyer made a clay handprint in Art class for Mother's Day. She got to use the new recent- ly purchased kiln. Adaline Havens used skittles in her Science experiment in Emily Hudson's kindergarten class on "E" day. The students learned about chemical reactions and the movement of hot and cold water molecules. Avery Overby shows her clay handprint she made for Mother's Day. Art teacher Rebecca Berry got to try out her new kiln. A grant from the Community Foun- dation allowed the Art class to purchase a new kiln for the room.
