Second place went to Alan Faith and Kenny Osgatharp. Keith Brock and Lou Karsner placed third. This week's tourney is at Bass Pit with fishing from 5:30 until 9 pm. Lady Charger tennis wins one, loses one last week By Andy Heuring Pike Central's girls tennis team won a close one and lost a close won, last week. On Tuesday, May 3, they beat Northeast Dubois 3-2, with two of the matches go- ing to three sets. Pike Central's number one doubles team pulled out a three set match that clinched the win for the Chargers. Ree- gan Craig and Shelby Keeker lost the first set 6 -3, but then turned things around in the second set to win 6 -4, and then closed out the NE Du- bois pair 6 -2 in the third set. Lilian Mann and Eibhlin Teague won their match 6 -4 and 6 -2. Gabby Collins, at number three singles, won easily over her NE Dubois opponent win- ing the first set 6 -0, and the second 6 -2. Jamie Sallee lost the tight- est of matches, at number one singles. She won the first set 7-6 in a tiebreaker; lost the second set 6 -4, and then fell 7-5 in the third set. Ella McGuire at number two singles also had a close match, falling 6 -3, 7-6. Chargers fell 2-3 to Wood Memorial. Pike Central lost a one point match to Wood Memo- rial Wednesday. Ella McGuire at num- ber two singles, beat Grace Strickland 6 -3, 6 -2. Gabby Collins at number three sin- gles, beat Izzy Rowe 6 -1, 6 - 2, for the Chargers two team points. Jaime Sallee fell 6 -2, 6 -2, to Wood's Briley Rowe. The number one doubles team of Kierston Bottoms and Bree Rowe were too much for the Pike Central's Reagon Craig and Shelby Keer. The Trojan pair won 6 -0, 6 -2. At number two doubles, Lil- ian Mann and Eibhlin Teague lost a competitive match 6 -4, 6 -4 to MyKayla Spindler and Morgan Ice. In Junior varsity action, Ashlyn Kirk won two match- es for the Chargers. She beat Abby Gates 6 -1, and then beat Cloey French 6 -0. and four bogies, but two big numbers, a nine on two and an eight on seven hurt an other- wise solid round. O'Neal, who was playing JV, played bogey golf until the last hole where he made a nine to shot his 48. Tyler Craig shot a 49, as did Cobey McKinney and Nathan Snyder, however McKinney and Snyder were playing JV. The other varsity scores were 50s by Peyton Howald and Lucas Taylor. Howald birdied the par 4 fourth hole, but two sevens and an eight on his card put a dent in his score. Nolan Nelson shot a 59.
