William "Hank" Perkins will begin his new duties as Town Manager on June 1st. He leaves his position in Lewisville where he has been serving as the Town Manager since 2012. On April 12th during the meeting of the Town Council, Mayor Carol P r i t c h e t t a n n o u n c e d Council had hired Perkins. Mayor Pritchett stated, "We are very pleased to be hiring a true professional with years of experience serving as a Town Manager...We look forward to everyone meeting him at the June Town Council meeting". "I am extremely happy for the opportunity to serve Lake Lure as its next Town Manager and I'm excited to be starting soon, " Perkins said. Prior to his job in Lewisville, Perkins served as Town Manager in North Wilkesboro and was the Town Administrator for the Town of Lucama from November 1999-April 2002. He has held other government jobs in Smithfi eld and Clayton. He received his Master of Public Administration, Summa Cum Laude, from North Carolina Central University. He received his political science degree from Appalachian State University. He was named the outstanding Local Government Manager in 2010 by the High County Council of Governments and was named a Main Street Champion in January 2011 by the NC Main Street Center.
