These funds are available to assist farmers to install conservation practices which help decrease the amount of sediment, nitro- gen, phosphorus, chemicals and other pollutants in the sur- face and ground waters of the state. The District expects to receive a minimal amount of money due to the NC state economic situation for the 2011 program year which begins August 1, 2010. Landowners and operators of existing agricultural operations may apply for cost share as- sistance to install conservation practices such as Stream Pro- tection Management Measures, Sediment/Erosion/Nutrient Management Measures, Waste Management Measures and many more. If you want more information or wish to apply for funds, call the Rutherford Soil and Water Conservation District offi ce at telephone number 828-287-4220 Ext.3. The offi ce will send a District Technician and/or District Conservationist to visit your farm and discuss solutions for protecting water quality in the Broad River Basin. The Rutherford Soil and Water Conservation District prohib- its discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, po- litical beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status.
