Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this tem- ple made with human hands and in three days will build an- other, not made with hands.'" Yet even then their testimony did not agree. Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you? " But Je- sus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Bless- ed One? " "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." The high priest tore his clothes. "Why do we need any more witnesses? " he asked. "You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think? " They all condemned him as worthy of death. (Mark 14:57-64). Palm Sunday is a time to cel- ebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus as he rides as King in- to Jerusalem with a very great multitude crying out "Hosan- na to the Son of David: Bless- ed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest." (Matthew 21:9) It was such a magnificent mo- ment of praise that the scrip- ture says, "When he came in- to Jerusalem all the city was stirred." (Matthew 21:10) Five short days after this glorious event, Jesus is in front of another multitude, on trial before Pilate and Pilate asked the multitude, "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? " (Matthew 27:22) They all cried, "Let him be crucified." I wonder how ma- ny of the multitude that cried "crucify him" was also in the crowd crying "Hosanna? " It's not a far-fetched thought. We know that between the Sunday cries of Hosanna and the Fri- day cries of crucify Him, Ju- das betrayed Jesus and Peter denied him three times. There was another cry that went out that we must not for- get. It was the cry of Jesus say- ing, "Father, forgive them." (Luke 23:34) Peter accepted Christ's forgiveness and went on to be mightily used of God. If you once sang Hosanna and have since turned from Christ, follow Peter's example and re- pent, accept forgiveness, and turn back to Jesus. He not on- ly has forgiveness for you, he wants to use you to bring oth- ers to him. Chad Searls, Pastor Allen Parks, Reporter TWIN OAKS CHURCH 1911 E. Co. Rd. 650 N. As we follow Jesus' lead, may He guide our actions to cue others to the reality of our faith. And may our words and actions be done, "all for the glory of God." What nonverbal faith cues are you showing others through your actions? How are people able to see Christ in your words and ac- tions? "Father God, thank You for the example of Jesus. So many trials come into our lives and along with the business of life. These things can easily choke out the Life of God in us. But praise God, "But seek ye first the King- dom of God, and His righteous- ness; and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What things will be added? Sunday morning service 10 :15 a.m.; Sunday school at 11 a.m. and prayer Tuesday eve- ning at 7 p.m. As I look around in the King- dom of God there are so ma- ny lives that are in danger of missing heaven as their eter- nal home. Once they were on fire for God and then the busy side of the world creeped into their lives and very slowly the faith they once had in Jesus is of no effect. Attitudes change and words they speak show of the impact that things around them have taken hold and it is a bad state of affairs. Negative lives are then the evidence of them slowly falling from grace. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit begin to woo them again and we begin to see change. May the Word of God guide your life this week. Keep our Federal, State, and Local governments in your prayer as it was a command from Jesus. Also, pray for the nursing homes, those in hospitals, fami- ly and friends that are afflicted. May you find peace and bless- ings in your week and be filled with joy. In His Service, George Bruce, Jr., Pastor OAKLAND CITY FIRST PENTECOST Hwy. 64 East Sunday morning service 9:30 a.m. with children's Sun- day school during the minis- try of the Word; Wednesday and Sunday evening services are at 6 p.m. All services are CDT (Gibson Co. times). We live in a world with "bent" rules. If it's not illegal, then it's okay; however, not if you claim to be a Christian. Whether we see the results or not; we must do what is right. God could have looked down and said, "It's their mess, let them worry about it." But in- stead He did what was a moral decision; a decision based on "love your neighbor" and sent His Son. Though rejected by the masses, the Lord chose to do what He and the Father had agreed on. Not seeing the re- sults, He allowed Himself to be nailed to Calvary's tree. But three days later, He con- firmed who He was by raising up from that tomb. His body not seeing corruption. To my family in Christ, don't grow weary in your do- ing right, don't worry about the results, follow the exam- ple of our Lord. Happy Easter fellow Chris- tians. PENTECOST PASSION Nineteenth-century evan- gelist Dwight L. Moody was walking down a New York City street, thinking about a sen- tence he'd heard: "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man who is wholly yielded to him." Suddenly Moody felt a great yearning and cried out, "O God, make me that man." He was so overwhelmed with God's love and with heartfelt passion to reach lost people that he had to stop at a friend's house to rest. In Birth of the Body, Ray St- edman says this is what Luke is talking about when he de- scribes the events of Pente- cost. "When John the Baptist predicted that Jesus would come and baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire, he meant that there would be an unexplainable passion about the church." As we feel the Pentecost passion, let's yield ourselves wholly to God and see what he does with us. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday. Amy Melhiser, Secretary OTWELL WESLEYAN CHURCH 2277 N. Mechanics Street Otwell Pastor 812.354.3028 Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship at 10 :30 a.m.; 6:30 p.m. Sunday eve- ning worship service. There will be an Easter Egg hunt after the morning wor- ship service. Never found the time I knelt to pray but not for long; I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work for bills would soon be due. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer and jumped up off my knees. My Christian duty was now done. My soul could rest at ease. All day long, I had no time to spread a word of cheer. No time to speak of Christ to friends. They'd laugh at me I'd fear. No time, no time, too much to do; That was my constant cry. No time to give to souls in need, but at last the time, the time to die. I went be- fore the Lord. I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his hands, God held a book; It was the book of life. God looked into his book and said, "Your name I cannot find. I once was going to write it down but nev- er found the time." Happy Easter. Remember the reason for the season. We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter
