COACH EYEWEAR Tennis falls to Princeton 5-0 By Andy Heuring Pike Central girls tennis team lost 5 -0 to Princeton in a match that was much clos- er than the overall score indi- cated on the cold, windy day. Pike Central dropped the number one singles match by forfeit, but two of their match- es went to three sets and both doubles matches lost the sec- ond set 7-5. Gabby Collins got off to a good start, trying to stay un- defeated. She beat Ali Medler 6 -1, but then she dropped the second set by the same score and in the deciding set lost 6 -3. At number two single, Jai- me Sallee had a similar match. She opened with a 6 -1 win in the first set then lost the next two sets, 6 -2. The number one doubles team of Reagan Craig and Shelby Keeker fell 6 -1 in the first set, but then fought to a 7- 5 loss in the second set. Alain Johnson and Lilian Mann at number two doubles opened with a 6 -2 loss in the first set, then fell 7-5 to Eliz- abeth James and Emma Cra- vens. In JV action, Pike Central's Eiblin Teague beat Ashlyn Kirk 6 -2. Pike Central drops close match to Lady Alices By Andy Heuring Pike Central dropped a close match to Vincennes on Monday night as the Alices won 3-2. Number three singles play- er Gabby Collins pushed her record to 2-0 on the season with a 6 -1, 6 -3 win over Rany Corya of Vincennes. The team of Alaina Johnson and Lilian Mann improved their record to 2-1 on the season with a win over the Alices' Kelsey How- der and Jade York 6 -2, 6 -0. At number one doubles, Reagan Craid and Shelby Keeker lost a close match fall- ing 6 -4 in the first set to Mak- enzie Clark and Macey Fish- er of Vincennes. In the second set, the Charger duo pushed the match into a tiebreaker and eventually lost 7-6. Jamie Sallee fell 6 -3, 6 -4 to Abby West of Vincennes at number two singles. Pike Cen- tral's Ella McGuire at number one singles was beaten 6 -0, 6 - 0 by Payton Dugan. Pike Central team record on the season is 1-2. In JV action Eibhlin Teague won three matches. She teamed with Ashlyn Kirk to beat Vincennes tandem of Ture Mahrenholz and Emily Prilic 8 -2 in doubles. Teague also beat Merce- les Lowery 4-1 in singles, and Mackenzie Taylor 4-0 in sin- gles. Charger Ashlyn Kirk in sin- gles fell to Zoe Herron 4-2. MS Tennis wins opening meet By Andy Heuring Pike Central Middle School girls tennis team won their season opener over For- est Park on Wednesday night. The girls won 4-1. Amelia Adams won 8 -5 at number singles. Kyndall Mc- Cutchan won 8 -2 at number three singles. Alyssa Mc- Cutchan dropped a close match 5 -8 at number one sin- gles. The Chargers swept the doubles matches with Emily McGillem and Calleigh Wib- beler winning number one doubles 8 -7; and number two doubles, Ellie Arnold and Elle Readle winning 8 -6. In other doubles matches the Chargers Avelyn Knepp and Aliva Weitkamp won 6 - 2. Anne O'brien and Kyndall McCutchan 6 -0 ; and Alyssa McCutchan and Amelia Ad- ams won 6 -0 . Patricia Haycraft and Cal- lie Craig lost 4-6; Lily Lacy and Jenna Harris 3-6; Kaydee Sims and Fay Barber 2-6; and Addie Wibbler and Taylen Bailey 0 -6.
