John Wayne Brackett, Jr., 65, of Casar, passed away on Sunday, March 27th, 2022. Born in Cleveland County, NC on October 10, 1956, he was the son of John Wayne Brackett, Sr., and the late Gaynell {Nell) Gantt Brackett. In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother Mark Brackett and wife, Julie of Shelby and a sister, Lora Brackett of Shelby. DWAN WRAY THORNBURG Dwan Wray Thornburg, 77, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on March 28, 2022. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Edgar Wray and Gladys McSwain Thornburg and was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Dwan Thornburg; his brothers, Modean and Newell Thornburg; and his sisters, Lavelle Thornburg and Helen Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Hoyle Thornburg, of the home; children: Gilda Thornburg, and Zoltan CLINE BORDERS HAMRICK Cline Borders Hamrick, 80, of Boiling Springs passed away on March 26, 2022. Born August 3, 1941, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Charles James Hamrick and Bernice Elizabeth Borders Hamrick. He was also pre- ceded in death by his brother, Joseph Marshall Hamrick. Cline is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hocutt Hamrick; their four sons: Jason (Amy), Leif (Christina), Spencer (Erika), and Miles; and eleven grand- children. A memorial service was held March 30, outdoors at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Boiling Springs, NC, officiated by the Revs. Bonnie Doughtie, Buddy Corbin, and Carroll Page. Interment of the ashes will took place prior to the memorial service, at the Boiling Springs Cemetery on South Main Street. JAMES WALTER RAPE James Walter Rape, 83, of Shelby, passed away Monday, March 28th, 2022. Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Mr. Rape was pre- ceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Elaine Hampton Rape; his mother, Pauline Rape; and his father, Theodore (Pete) Rape. Mr. Rape served our coun- try in the U.S. Air National Guard. He is survived by one son, Tim Rape (Cyndi) of Blacksburg; two daughters, Lisa Bloom (Andre) of Blacksburg and Susanne Duncan (Mark) of Gaffney; two sisters, Shirley Wessinger of Chester and Trudy Scruggs of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. DAVID TURNER, SR. David Albert Lee Turner Sr., 67, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. A native of Cleveland County he is the son of Pauline Turner and the late DL Turner. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his son, DJ Turner; and sister, Ann Johnson. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Turner of the home; sons, David Turner and wife Shandi of Casar and Chris Shasteen and wife Stacey of Shelby; sisters, Donnis Walker and husband Steve and Gail Finney and husband Billy; and six grandchildren. William was born in Orange, TX, on a naval base to the late Homer David Woodward and Daisy Juanita Pennington Woodward on April 13th, 1953. William is survived by his wife, Cindy Bush Woodward; children: William Richard Woodward Jr. and Torie Lee Woodward; Barbara Woodward McKInney, Nona Woodward Huskins, Homer David Woodward Jr. and his wife, Judy Woodward, and three granddaughters. In addition to her par- ents, Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Obie Eugene Bridges; two broth- ers, Drayton and Ray Russ; and a sister, Inez Russ Cooper. Becky is survived by her two sons, Steve Bridges (Myra) and Mark Bridges; a daughter Maryann Blackwell; a brother Kenneth Russ (Shirley); and two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
