From "yard" to "favorite gathering place" – Woodcraft offers tips for spring home projects Keep Rutherford County Beautiful is an ongoing effort across Rutherford County during the month of April - Earth Month. Volunteers are needed to help clean roadsides, parks, trails, parking lots and any other areas of Rutherford County. Volunteers are asked to collect trash for two hours. Rutherford County Beautiful will provide NCDOT trash bags, thick globes and safety vests. Team leaders will fi nd the areas of clean up and recruit team members. Recently members of the Public Works Departments in Rutherfordton installed birds made from trash at Norris Public Library and the Purple Martin in Rutherfordton to raise awareness of the proper way to dispose of trash. Several Earth Month activities are planned: • RecycleBot Challenge for the 3rd graders due April 15. Winners will be announced on April 27 at the Chimney Rock State Park Homeschool Day. • Keep Rutherford County Beautiful will be presenting at SciFest at ICC for 6th graders next Friday (over 750 students expected).
