Vanessa Valentin is direc-
tor of marketing and com-
munications at the Hispanic
Alliance for Career Enhance-
ment where she focuses on
strengthening and expanding
the organization's mission and
brand by sharing the stories of
its members.
As a former reporter in
Chicago's Back of the Yards
neighborhood, where she
grew up, she told the stories
of educators, politicians, and
community leaders. There she
was given an opportunity to
manage the marketing efforts
of The Gate newspaper and
transitioned her career from
journalistic storytelling to
marketing storytelling.
Valentin is a boomerang
to HACE, where she was once
the strategic partnership ma
-
nager. She also led marketing
efforts at the Women's Busi-
ness Development Center and
for BMO Harris Premier Ser-
vices. She also works with va-
rious organizations to support
small businesses via marke-
ting workshops and coaching.
She has focused most of
her career on supporting the
professional development of
students and professionals
and was recognized as a Lati-
na Brava by Latino Magazine
in 2017 for her commitment
to advancing Latinas through
mentorship.
Her overall passion lies in
empowerment, by providing
individuals with the insights
and access to resources that
will equip them with the skills
needed in their personal lives
as well as in their careers.
