Páramo was born and rai- sed on the east side of Joliet but his roots are in Cuamio, Michoacan, Mexico, which his parents left when they were teenagers. Although he struggled while earning a bachelor's degree in manage- ment of science and enginee- ring at Stanford University, he eventually found power in his identity by leaning into his roots. When he started with Ca- brera in the public finance investment banking division, he supported the execution of over $42 billion in debt for public infrastructure projects across the country. As chief of staff he works alongside Mar- tin Cabrera, CEO and foun- der, impacting every aspect of the business, including extensive advocacy for ini- tiatives affecting the Latino community as well as natio- nal policy initiatives related to access to financial services for minorities. His previous professional experience includes working with the immigration defense unit in the San Francisco Public Defender's Office where he was as an assistant to the mana- ging attorney in representing undocumented residents fa- cing deportation. He was also a data analyst with Mission Asset Fund, a financial services tech- nology nonprofit that leverages tandas to create a fairer finan- cial marketplace for undocu- mented Latinos. He is founder and presi- dent of the Joliet Latino Eco- nomic Development Associa- tion, whose vision is to build a financially and culturally prosperous Latino communi- ty. In addition, he serves on the board of directors for the Stan- ford Latino Alumni Associa- tion, United Way of Will Coun- ty, and Greater Joliet YMCA. He is a proud graduate of the Chi- cago Latino Caucus Leader- ship Academy, Multicultural Leadership Academy of Will County, and was recognized as a Wintrust Latinx Community Leader for 2021.
