Janneth Lanini puts her legal
skills to work in the negotia-
tion of complex agreements
and serves as an advisor and
counsel to business units
about compliance with laws,
regulations and policies.
Lanini started her legal
career at the Chicago Transit
Authority where she discove-
red that she truly enjoyed wor-
king for a company, not only
by helping them comply with
laws and regulations but also
through involvement in busi-
ness decisions. Thereafter she
sought roles that could lead
to a position as in-house legal
counsel. She has held roles at
Acero Charter Schools and
later at Katten Muchin Ros-
enman as a conflicts attorney.
She joined Reynolds Consu-
mer Products in October 2020.
Throughout her career, La-
nini has worked to advance
diversity in the legal profes-
sion and create opportunities
for the advancement of Latino
students interested in beco-
ming attorneys. She was born
in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and
moved to the United States at
the age of 14. As the first in her
family to attend college and
law school, she understands
the immense challenges faced
by students interested in pur-
suing a legal career.
She is the immediate past
president of the Hispanic
Lawyers Association of Illinois
and has served on the board
of directors since 2015. She is
also treasurer for the Hispanic
National Bar Association Cor-
porate Counsel Division, and
the membership committee
for the Association of Corpo-
rate Counsel Chicago Chapter.
She received her law degree
from the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign College
of Law and earned a bachelor's
degree in political science and
international studies from Lo-
yola University Chicago.
