A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Arlie and Brenda Sue Hale Dunn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nanette Cash. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Dunn of the home; daughter, Tiffany Hester and husband, Matt of Vale; sons, Chris Dunn of Gastonia and Scott Dunn Jr. of Monroe; sister, Vickie Brown of Lincolnton and Donna Bruns and husband, Adam of AL; brother, Jeff Dunn of Dallas; and three grandchildren. He was born in Cherokee County, NC, son of the late Floyd T. and Bernice Drinnon Payne and was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Dean Payne. Mr. Gettys served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. A funeral service was held March 11, 2022 at Big Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Scott and Rev. Jim Richardson. Born in Cleveland County, on January 4, 1937, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Davis and Opal Bridges Davis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Davis and sister, Wanda Gray. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Weatherford Davis; son, Matt Davis and wife Carmen of Shelby; daughter, Tammy Eaker and husband, Bryan of Holden Beach; sis- ter, Pat Steward of Chapel Hill; and four grandchildren. Goins and James (Nick) Greene; a grandson; sisters: Ruth Randle and Montrose Replinski; and two brothers: R. P. Hoyle and Billy Hoyle.
