Wayne Newton snaps up more property for expanding compound
By Eli Segall staff writer
Wayne Newton may have bid farewell to Casa de Shenandoah, but
the famed crooner has another growing compound in the works.
Newton and his wife, Kathleen, spent $5 million last month on
10.3 acres of real estate near their new mansion at East Oquendo
and South Gateway roads in Las Vegas.
Their most recent purchase includes vacant land and a twostory, 5,446-square-foot house on South Lamb Boulevard. The
Newtons bought the real estate from Lanny D. Love, who is said
to own the Vegas Adult Superstore.
A spokeswoman for the Newtons confirmed that they bought
property and that it will be part of their estate. Love, who held the
property in her Little Bunny Trust, did not respond to a request
for comment.
Known as "Mr. Las Vegas," Newton had lived at Casa de Shenandoah since the 1960s. But the estate has been tangled in legal
disputes, and Newton was slated to leave by the end of June for
a two-story, 9,145-square-foot mansion he and Kathleen bought
for $3 million in May. The sale included an adjacent parcel with a
one-story, 1,859-square-foot house.
The new mansion is about two miles from Shenandoah and
features a wine cellar and movie theater. When they bought it,
the Newtons also picked up a nearby one-story, 2,377-square-foot
house on South Lamb Boulevard for $150,000.
Property records indicate that Norbert Aleman, creator of the
"Crazy Girls" topless show at the Riviera, sold them the three
properties.
