"My entire life, I have always gone from school to dance practice, and now, I am so thankful to be able to go from a full-time job to dance practice, too. DreamWeavers has always been my second home and I attribute my love for dance to their inspiration and guidance," Montana said. "I am especially grateful to Pam Strickland, Macey Butler and Ritchie Garland for always encouraging me and pushing me to pursue a dream that I once thought of as unachievable." Montana said she followed in the footsteps of fellow Forest City native, Farrin Eddy as she entered the professional dance world. Prior to becoming a Honey Bee, Farrin and Montana were cheerleaders for the Charlotte Checkers hockey team. She learned about the Charlotte Checkers CheckMaters while she was still in college at Gardner- Webb. "After seeing what she (Farrin) had accomplished on the team, I decided to audition as well once I moved to Charlotte after graduating nursing school," Montana said. "I am so thankful to get to experience professional dance with a childhood friend and I continue to admire her talent and passion," she added. From time to time Montana's friends, her mom, her dad and other relatives have had the opportunity to see the lifelong dancer still doing what she loves. Visit the Charlotte Hornet website for videos of the Honey Bees. Farrin Eddy (left) a graduate of East High is shown with Montana before a performance at Spectrum Stadium in Charlotte. The two friends also danced on the same teams while growing up in Forest City. Montana and her dad Brannon Bright. Mom Sherry Bright and cousin Dana Bright at a game. He did not see his shadow, contradicting the prediction from the famous Punxsutawney Phil. Maybe New England is in for more six more weeks of winter, but Pumpkin sees warmer days coming to Chimney Rock soon. Chimney Rock Mayor Peter O'Leary spoke to Pumpkin and relayed his predictions to those watching online. Following his weather prognostication, Pumpkin predicted that the L.A. Rams will win Super Bowl LVI on February 13. Chimney Rock groundhogs have a Groundhog Day prediction success rate of about 68 percent, and we can't wait to see if Pumpkin is correct. Pumpkin recently joined the Chimney Rock family after being deemed unreleasable to the wild at a rehabilitation center in New York. Because of brain damage caused by a parasite, Pumpkin is not able to survive on his own. About Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park: Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park is a still-developing international outdoor destination located 25 miles southeast of Asheville on Highway 64/74A in Chimney Rock, N.C. It is recognized as one of the Southeast's most iconic sites and popular travel destinations. The Park's 535-million- year-old monolith called Chimney Rock can be accessed via a state-of-the-art elevator or the nearly 500-step Outcroppings Trail. At the top, guests can enjoy 75-mile panoramic views of the Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure. The Park features one of the highest waterfalls of its kind east of the Mississippi River, Hickory Nut Falls. Hickory Nut Gorge, is one of the state's most signifi cant centers of biodiversity, and is home to 36 rare plant species and 14 rare animal species. A destination for travel groups, weddings and special events, the Chimney Rock section of the Park also hosts innovative educational programs for fi eld trips, scout groups, and summer camps. Visit Chimney Rock's website for more information. Pumpkin the Groundhog Predicts an Early Spring Article Provided By: Olivia Slagle Pumpkin the Groundhog enjoys a snack following his predicition.
