South Gibson Star-Times Sports Tuesday, December 14, 2021 B-3 Kickapoos suffer a losses at Princeton, Haubstadt The Owensville eighth grade boys battled against Princeton on Monday, Dec. 6, losing by a score of 41-27. Owensville jumped out to a 9 -6 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored 15 -4 in the second for a Princeton lead of 21-13 at halftime. The second half saw the Tigers extend the lead and win the game 41-27. Brenlynn Sturgeon led the Kicks with 13 points, includ- ing three, three-point bas- kets. Kannon Sisk added eight points, followed by To- by Pullum with four and Eli Dant scored two. Princeton hit six three-point baskets in the game. THURSDAY, DEC. 9 The Kicks went on to face off with Haubstadt on Thurs- day, Dec. 9. OCS had another quick start and jumped out to a 15 -7 first-quarter lead. The second quarter saw Haub- stadt outscore the Kicks 6 -5 and Owensville led at half 20 - 13. The third quarter saw the Elites take the lead at 26 -22 and Haubstadt won the game 32-24. Brenlynn Sturgeon led the Kicks with eight points, fol- lowed by Eli Dant and Kannon Sisk, both with five points. To- by Pullum scored four and Ty Keller rounded out the scor- ing with two. "We had a hard time scor- ing in the second half and let Staggs get the ball too deep. Once he got the ball inside, we really had a hard time defend- ing him," commented Coach Rick McKinney. Owensville Community will play at home on Tuesday, Dec. 14 against South Spencer and Thursday, Dec. 16 against Pike Central.
