ASSOCIATION
OF LATINO MEN
FOR ACTION
CEO: Julio RodrÃguez
ALMA's mission is to
fight for the rights of the
Latino LGBTQ community
by advocating for fairness
and equality and affirming Latino LGBTQ culture.
In 1989, ALMA was born out of the need to serve gay,
bisexual, queer, and questioning Latino men during the
AIDS epidemic. It mobilized to provide culturally and lin-
guistically appropriate supportive services. Today ALMA
refrains from replicating HIV/AIDS services and instead
focuses on building power through community engage-
ment, policy change, and still providing safe spaces.
