The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, December 8, 2021 B-7 Charger swimming takes third at Boonville By Matthew Haycraft The Pike Central Charger co-ed swim team faced off against Boonville and Gibson Southern on Thursday, De- cember 2 at the Boonville pool. Pike Central's girls took home third place at the tri- meet with 100 points, losing out on first by 24 points. The Lady Chargers left the meet with two firsts, three seconds and six third place wins out of 24 events. Following them, the boys' swim team also took home third place at the meet with a total point tally of 77, losing out on first by 79 points. They ended the tri-meet with one second place and six third place wins. The Lady Chargers' first place wins were in the 200 -yard freestyle, with Mad- dy Riley, Alexis Oswalt, Xav- ery Weisman and Jillian Bailey stopping the clock at 1:57.66, and in the 100 breaststroke, with Riley clocking a time of 1:14.75. Second place wins were in the 100 -yard backstroke, with Weisman clocking a time of 1:16.81, 100 -yard butterfly, with Oswalt clocking a time of 1:16.39, and again, with Weis- man in the 200 -yard IM, stop- ping the time at 2:53.71. Third places taken by the Lady Chargers were: 200 -yard medley relay, with Riley, Weisman, Bailey and Izzy Luker clocking a time of 2:16.37, the 200 -yard IM, with Oswalt clocking a time of 2:55.68, 50 -yard freestyle, with Bailey clocking a time of 28.13, 100 -yard freestyle, with Addy Russell clocking a time of 1:09.85, the 100 -yard breast- stroke, with Luker clocking a time of 1:27.90, and in the 400 -yard freestyle relay, with Riley, Russell, Luker and Jack- ie Berry stopping the clock at 4:51.14. In the Pike Central boys' swimming, the Chargers took second in the 50 -yard free, with Isaac Burdette clock- ing a time of 25.73. They took third place in the 200 -yard IM, with Draven Readle clocking a time of 2:41.96, the boys' one-meter diving, with Xan- der Parker scoring 110.95 points, the 100 -yard butter- fly, with Michael Burkhart clocking a time of 1:15.35, the 100 -yard free, with Cobey McKinney clocking a time of 59.93, missing out on second by only four seconds, 500 -yard free, with Readle clocking a time of 6:06.38, and in the 200 -yard freestyle relay, with Burdette, Burkhart, McKin- ney and Readle stopping the clock at 1:48.35, only missing second place by four seconds. The Charger boys' swim team had two times where they were close to third, but just barely missed it. The first one was in the 200 -yard med- ley relay, with Wyatt Luff, Bur- dette, Readle, and McKinney missing it by two seconds, and the second was in the 50 -yard free, with McKinney missing it by less than a second. Charger Ethan Mann swam the breaststroke for the Pike Central boys' swim team during a tri-meet between Gibson Southern, Boonville and Pike Central at Boonville on Thursday, December 2. Lady Charger Tessa Vinnedge placed fourth in the girls' one-meter diving at tri- meet between Gibson Southern, Boonville and Pike Central at Boonville on Thurs- day, December 2. Ella Adams swam the breaststroke for the Lady Chargers' swim team in a tri- meet between Gibson Southern, Boonville and Pike Central at Boonville on Thurs- day, December 2. KOLIN CLUTTER MEMORIAL RELAYS Lady Charger Emma McKinney swam the breast- stroke for the Pike Central girls' swim team during the Kolin Clutter Memorial Relays at Tecumseh. Lady Charger Jackie Berry swam the backstroke for the Pike Central girls' swim team during the Kolin Clut- ter Memorial Relays at Tecumseh on Saturday, December 4. Michael Burkhart swam the butterfly for the Pike Central boys' swim team during the Kolin Clutter Memori- al Relays at Tecumseh on Saturday, December 4. Charger Xander Parker swam the butterfly for the Pike Central boys' swim team during the Kolin Clut- ter Memorial Relays at Tecumseh on Saturday.
