The Warhawks went undefeated in winning the WIAA Division 1 state title. Arrowhead held eight of its 13 opponents under 10 points, and the closest game the Warhawks played was a 41-21 seasonopening victory over Minnetonka (Minn.). While Arrowhead has lost a considerable amount of talent from that team, the Warhawks will return plenty as well. The Warhawks are expected to return two of the state's elite players, University of Wisconsin recruits George Panos and Billy Hirschfeld. Panos, a guard, and Hirschfeld, a defensive tackle, were allstate selections. Others who played last year include senior defensive end Sam Seonbuchner, a second-team All-Classic 8 Conference pick who has committed to play at Iowa State. First-team all-league linebacker Matt Seitz, who will be a senior, is also receiving several collegiate offers. Senior first-team allleague receiver Ricky Finco, senior honorable mention running back Ty Jaeger, sophomore honorable mention offensive tackle Ben Bredeson, senior honorable mention defensive end Logan Rupard and senior honorable mention defensive back Alex Romenesko are among others who contributed last season as underclassmen. First-team all-league picks Brady Kelliher (quarterback), Jake McQuestion (tackle), Eric Precia (center), Brian Sesolak (defensive tackle), Jackson Abresch (defensive back) and Steve Dentice (punter) also have graduated. Receiver Kenny Finco (second-team all-Classic 8), receiver Brandon Kim (honorable mention), defensive tackle Austin Fischer (second team) and defensive back Alex Sandstrom (second team) have graduated. Pewaukee had a successful run last season, winning the Woodland Conference West Division at 8-0. The Pirates finished 9-1 overall after winning their first playoff game and falling to eventual Division 3 state champion Catholic Memorial in the second round. The Pirates lost Wisconsin recruit T.J. Watt, who played quarterback and linebacker last season, to graduation along with Woodland West Defensive Player of the Year David Girmscheid and West Lineman of the Year Jamison Cook. Other key graduation losses are lineman Kevin Baumann, running back George Opelt, running back Anthony Miosi, receiver Dan Kemp, defensive backs Derek Folkert and Austin Schroeder, lineman Klye Baumann and linebacker Doug DeVoe. Among the underclassmen who played for Pewaukee last year are running back Ryan Stepanovich and defensive linemen Matt Ottman, Jacob Roseland and Eric Lutzen, who were all first-team all-West Division selections. Hamilton went 7-3 last season, finishing third in the Greater Metro Conference at 5-2. GMC Running Back of the Year Drew Patterson ran for 28 touchdowns as a junior. Junior guard Andrew Poentisch (second team) and senior defensive lineman Tommy Deihl (honorable mention) played last year. The Chargers lost GMC Offensive Lineman of the Year Tony Koepnick to graduation along with tight end Tony Gumina, center Sufyan Hamouda, running backs Nick Knoebel and Corey Parris, defensive back Jake Knueppel, defensive linemen Joe Eggert, Cory Caliendo and Nick Boyd and kicker Kenny Lo. Lake Country Lutheran won the Midwest Classic Conference title at 6-0, and the Lightning won two Division 7 playoff games in finishing 10-1 overall. Lutheran lost Offensive Player of the Year Jacob Simons and Defensive Player of the Year Tim Bahr to graduation along with AllMCC performers Jacob Demman (receiver/defensive back), Tim Martens (tackle), Evan Dittmann (guard) and JR Ellison (receiver). Those who played for Lutheran as underclassmen last year include senior defensive tackle Ross Gottschalk (first-team AllMCC), senior linebacker Nate Coss (first team), senior linebacker Kyle Charles Auer/Freeman Staff Hamilton's Drew Patterson was the Greater Metro Conference Back of the Year as a junior. Herdt (second team) and senior kicker Ben Wilkins (second team). Kettle Moraine went 2-6 last season (2-5 Classic 8) and lost quarterback Nick Cieslak to graduation. Cieslak, who committed to Northern Illinois, was a second-team All-Classic 8 pick. The Lasers have a new coach, Dave Pfeiffer, who replaces Darnell Wiltz, who had been at the helm for two seasons. The Lasers graduated receiver Drew Fuller, tackle Daniel Lawniczak, guard Jake Zach, center Nic Olp, defensive end Morgan Campbell and linebacker Derrick Wood, all of whom received honorable mention all-league honors. St. John's Northwestern went 6-3 in longtime coach Gary Richert's final season, finishing 4-2 in the MCC. Gene Boley is the new SJNMA coach. The Lancers lost Dominic Pfister, an allconference running back, defensive back and punter, to graduation along with all-league performers David Redwood (guard) amd Shaquille Allen (guard/linebacker). Senior center Nicholas Lies was a first-team allleague pick last year, and senior defensive back Eric Imel was a second-team selection.
