Brainerd Dispatch • November 21 - 27, 2021 •19 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Hawkeye" Don't miss the latest dive into an- other super-story when "Hawkeye" debuts Wednesday, Nov. 24, on Dis- ney+. Taking place after the events of "Avengers: End Game" (2019), "Hawkeye" is the fifth new televi- sion series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Based on the Marvel source comics, the series stars Jeremy Renner ("The Hurt Locker," 2008) reprising his role as Clint Bar- ton, aka Hawkeye, an expert archer and marksman who doesn't techni- cally have any superhuman powers, but who has turned his body into a versatile, deadly weapon. While Barton may have retired as Hawk- eye and the worst villain of all may be gone, the Avengers are still fight- ing crime, this time with a younger group of heroes. Young archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld, "True Grit," 2010) has taken on the role of Hawkeye with the Avengers, and the two are soon forced to work to - gether to take down enemies from Barton's past. The series explores more of Barton's time as his alter ego, Ronin (as seen in "Endgame"), while the unlikely duo take on their enemies, hoping to make it home in time for Christmas. Created by Jonathan Igla ("Mad Men"), the series is directed by Rhys Thomas ("Saturday Night Live") and duo Bert and Bertie ("Troop Zero," 2019). "Hawkeye" also stars Flor - ence Pugh ("Little Women," 2019), Vera Farmiga ("The Many Saints of Newark," 2021), Zahn McClarnon ("Longmire"), Brian d'Arcy James ("Spotlight," 2015) and Tony Dal- ton ("Better Call Saul"). "The Beatles: Get Back" "Get back" into The Beatles ex- perience with the new three-part documentary series "The Beatles: Get Back," premiering Part 1 on Thursday, Nov. 25, on Disney+. Originally set up to be a feature- length documentary film, the project grew to accommodate all the usable footage and tell The Beatles' story the way it was meant to be told. With each part coming in at around two hours in length, fans of the Fab Four can indulge in an exciting deep dive into the band. The film footage was originally cap- tured for Michael Lindsay-Hogg's ("Tinsel's Town") 1970 docu- mentary of the same name, and the miniseries follows John, Paul, George and Ringo during the mak- ing of their 1970 album "Let It Be." Although it covers tougher subjects that the original documentary skipped over — George Harrison's brief departure from the band, for example — the series challenges old assumptions about the band's attitudes towards each other and shows a more upbeat production process. Getting an intimate look at the creative development of their hit songs, the creation of the "Let It Be" album and everything in be- tween, "Get Back" is a production every fan of the supergroup will want to see. Directed and produced by Peter Jackson ("The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," 2001), the series is also produced by band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, George Harrison's widow, Olivia Harrison ("George Harrison: Living in the Material world," 2011), and John Lennon's widow, artist Yoko Ono ("Imagine," 1972). Part 2 releases the following day, on Friday, Nov. 26, and Part 3 on Saturday, Nov. 27. WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "Holly Hobbie" - Season 3 Big dreams come true in a small town with the Season 3 release of "Holly Hobbie," available on Hulu starting Tuesday, Nov. 23. Holly Hobbie (Ruby Jay, "The Unicorn") has lived her whole life in the small town of Collinsville. A big fish in a small pond, the 13-year-old singer/ songwriter is constantly coming up with big new ideas to help out those around her. The series began with Holly and friends putting on an open-mic night to raise enough money to save her grandmother's (Sara Botsford, "Anne of Green Gables," 2016) café. Moving into Season 3, Holly is starting up her social media career and hoping to raise money to help pay for her dad's (Evan Buliung, "The Wolf and the Lion," 2021) medical bills after he is hurt in an accident. Developed for television by Sarah Glinski ("Degrassi: The Next Generation"), the series is based on the writer and doll of the same name and is direct- ed by Stefan Brogren ("Degrassi Goes Hollywood," 2009). WHAT'S NEW ON DISCOVERY+ "Chasing Ghislaine" Dig deeper into a harrowing true crime story when the new discov- ery+ docuseries "Chasing Ghis- laine" makes its debut on Monday, Nov. 22, on the Discovery-owned streamer. The docuseries focuses on Ghislaine Maxwell, the former romantic partner and alleged ac- complice of disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and what exactly her role may have been within his seedy, criminal organization. After his ar- rest and subsequent suicide, which many consider to be extremely suspicious, the larger conversa- tion shifted to the power, money and influence involved in cover- ing up the reaches of Epstein's sex trafficking ring. The lives and reputations of many international wealthy elite are on the line as the story unfolds, and this series digs into exactly what lengths these high-profile and powerful indi- viduals may go to in order to keep their names out of the news. With Maxwell centered as the potential string to unfurl it all, the three-part series shines a light on the deplor- able actions of those involved and the extent to which the conspiracy itself evolved while awaiting Max- well's criminal trial. From Blackfin and James Patterson Entertain- ment, "Chasing Ghislaine" comes from executive producer James Patterson ("Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich"). Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner star in "Hawkeye" Tomaso Sanelli and Ruby Jay star in "Holly Hobbie" Kevin Hart stars in "True Story"
