Saturday, Dec. 11, 2pm Old Befana - An Italian Christmas Story Old Befana is a lovely musical based on an ancient holiday story...a recipe for enchant- ment, its warmth and magic stirs audiences of all ages. This tale puts an illuminating spin on a familiar night of miracles, three Kings, a bright shining star, and a very special child. Singer-songwriter Ken Lon- nquist adapted the Yule story in 1987, and has been perform- ing the musical with his troupe every holiday season since. The songs and message are irre- sistible. Hearing that a special child is coming to make the world a better place, Old Befana begins a search which contin- ues to this day during the holi- day season. She doesn't know whether the child she seeks is rich or poor, black or white, a boy or a girl. "Anyone could be the one to make a better world," Befana sings. "It might be... you!" Come early for free chil- dren's activities 12:30-1:30 pm. Schauer Center, 147 N. Rural St., Hartford Sat., Dec. 11, 7:30-10pm Beatallica Forged from the influences of two of history's greatest bands, Beatallica is the world's first live mash-up or "bash-up" band. Their wit, creativity, sub- versiveness, and flair are as sharp as the point they make. Beatallica destroys the bound- aries of creativity and reveals how original compositions of music can be crafted for those who identify with humor and biting commentary. All the while, they show appreciation and reverence to The Beatles and Metallica, grandfathers of their respective genres. Beatal- lica continues to change the face of music on the internet, in live settings, and over radio waves around the globe. They flourish with music lovers from all areas of the world at their side. Throw your fist high into the air, become a Beatal- libanger, and open your mind to a one-of-a-kind brand of musical mayhem. You may even hear a holiday favorite or two. Tickets are $15.
