David Cook with a reception to acknowledge his retirement. Cpl. Cook retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service including Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. After retiring from the military, Cpl. Cook held several jobs until he became employed as an Exceptional Teacher's Assistant with Rutherford County Schools at the Rutherford Opportunity Center (ROC). While still working at the Rutherford Opportunity Center (ROC) Cpl. Cook felt the desire to enter into a law enforcement career and become a school resource offi cer. Through the sponsorship of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Offi ce, Cpl. Cook enrolled into the Isothermal B.L.E.T. Program. He graduated B.L.E.T. and remained a teacher assistant at the ROC until the S.R.O. position became open. Cpl. Cook has been serving as the School Resource Offi cer at the ROC for the past 6 1/2 years. Cpl. Cook's last working day was October 15, 2021 and his offi cial retirement date is November 1. Sheriff Chris Francis presented Cpl. Cook with an engraved crystal, his Corporal badge, and his service weapon. Francis thanked Cpl. Cook for his dedicated service to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Offi ce, and the citizens of Rutherford County. On September 24-25, (pictured left to right) Danny Wells (Junior Warden), Doug Tribou (Secretary), and Creighton Lovelace (Senior Warden) represented Western Star Lodge No. 91 at the North Carolina Grand Lodge Annual Communication in Winston Salem.
