ESTABLISH YOUR CHARITABLE LEGACY WITH CUMBERLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION Whether your interest lies in sustaining the arts, furthering education, providing for those in need, or any other number of worthy missions – Cumberland Community Foundation (CCF) is here to help you. Since 1980, CCF has paid over $67 million in grants and scholarships from endowment funds created by people just like you. Partnering with CCF is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Step One: Create or Add to a Charitable Fund at CCF. Cumberland Community Foundation offers a variety of giving options which enable you to support your favorite causes. The timing of your gift is up to you! Step Three: Enjoy Your Charitable Legacy! Charitable giving is one of life's most rewarding endeavors. CCF can help you create your own legacy with a fund that makes an impact both now and in the future. Your generosity will make a difference and build a stronger community. Use the checklist on the next page to start designing your legacy now. WHAT IS AN ENDOWMENT? An endowment is a charitable fund that provides ongoing support to an organization or cause – in perpetuity! The fund is invested and continues to grow through sound stewardship on the part of CCF. Each year, a grant is made to a charitable purpose of the donor's choice from the income of the fund. By protecting the principal of the fund, it continues to grow and create income for the chosen organization or cause, making a positive impact – forever. Cumberl andCF.org | 25 In 1998, a donor created the Cape Fear Botanical Garden Children's Fund with a gift of $40,000. The donor and her family continued to give to the fund for several years. CCF invests all gifts to the fund for long term growth and distributes grants from the income annually. The garden receives a check every year from this endowment to support programs that help children learn about nature and plants. Today the endowment has grown to $224,355.40 and so far has granted a total of $90,000 to the garden. 24 | 2021/2022 Guide to Giving
