The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, October 13, 2021 B-3 CHARGERS Continued from page 1 A fter halftime, the Char- gers came out ready to take on the Rangers. Throughout the third and fourth quarter, they only let them score once, on a 12-yard run in, followed by a good kick. The Chargers held their ground against the Rangers in the second half while playing the Forest Park junior varsity team, which speaks volumes about the ca- pability of the team. As they get more football knowledge under their belts, since they do have a lot of newer play- ers on the team, they may be a force to reckon with in the future. Head Coach Kelly Brashear said, "First of all, we want to give our condolences to Wy- att Fraser, our halfback and middle linebacker tonight. He and his family lost his grandfather, who Wyatt was extremely close with, this morning from complications from COVID. That is why he was not here with us to play tonight." "You wouldn't think that just one guy would make such a difference but he's such an integral part of everything that we do. The kid doesn't leave the field, he plays one of our halfback spots, he's our middle linebacker. He plays on all the special teams, just one of those kids. He's an Iron Man. We just hate it for him and especially for his en- tire season. He's been quar- antined a couple times. He missed a couple games early because of being quarantined and this all being his senior year. It's just kind of a sad sit- uation for him, but we'll get him back next week for senior night at home against North Posey. The whole team coach- ing staff and all the players are thinking about and wishing him and his family well." "Talking about tonight, another one of those nights where you run into a bet- ter team. Coach Fuhs does such an excellent job with this group. And I was talking to him in the pre-game and he told me, 'Tonight, keep your head up. You're doing a great job, you guys are in the exact situation that I was when I came to Forest Park, and that we were very young, didn't have a whole lot of num- bers but you just got to stay the course and keep building that program.' So that's good to hear from other coaches that they see that we are put- ting the effort in to become a good football program." Passing: Matthew Mead- ows was 6 -10 for 79 yards; Jagar Dent was 0 -3; Braden Howald was 0 -1. Rushing: Howald had eight carries for a total of eight yards; Julian Gish had two carries for a total of ze - ro yards; Meadows had ten carries for a total of negative nine yards; Conner Loveless had one carry for a total of ze- ro yards. Receiving: Gish had two receptions for a total of 32 yards; Howald had three re- ceptions for a total of 45 yards; Dent had one reception for a total of two yards. Punting: Dent had seven punts for a total of 197 yards, with the longest being 39 yards. Kickoff Returns: Howald had six returns for a total of 80 yards; Trinten Richardson had one return for a total of seven yards; Dent had one re- turn for zero yards.
