10.2.2021 Here are some selected comments from the message boards at wholehogsports.com. FANS CELEBRATE ARKANSAS' 20-10 WIN OVER TEXAS A&M, BREAKING A NINE-GAME LOSING STREAK TO THE AGGIES… bluegrassrazorback: … As a Razorback Fan I'm very happy and overjoyed. A long-time fellow officer asked right after the Texas beat down, "what are your chances to get to Atlanta?" My answer came from a note I remember Clay Henry made once: "Let's just enjoy this win and worry about the next game later." ClayHenry: Talked to Gage as he was coming home from a business trip overseas yesterday. He was enjoying a whiskey in first class thinking about the Hogs whipping Texas and A&M. Whipping is the key word. Not luck. Not by a whisker, but whipping them. Making first downs with the run with the opposition knowing you were going to run. He said it was a tough jet lag moment but a sweet drink. Yes, we should soak it up. bayouhog: Isn't it great to feel the pride in the program once again? A couple of years ago it seemed as though it was gone for good. hgray479: Good point. I remember when Chad Morris was fired a lot of people saying it was going to take years to restore this program to relevancy. Not even two full years later, look where it is now. blackhogdown: Before the season I predicted 8-4 with losses being 'Bama, Georgia, Auburn and A&M. What I know now is Georgia is tough but Clemson and Vandy aren't great wins. Auburn is a win now in a revenge game. A&M is history. 'Bama will be tough. My prediction has changed to 10-2. I'm forever a sunshine pumper. hawgjabend: No objection from me. I'm just glad we are playing winning football. The wins don't so much matter. It's the new vibe. We recruit, develop and play like winners and there is an emphasis on playing in a manner (with toughness) that creates wins. That's all I've ever really wanted. I'm really happy. ClayHenry: If they keep the same players on the field, this team will win a lot of games. POSTERS RESPOND TO TEXAS A&M'S RUNNING BACK ISAIAH SPILLER SAYING THAT ARKANSAS "NEVER STOPPED" THE AGGIE OFFENSE … SwineFusion: Holding them to 272 total yards, 25% of which came on his long run, says otherwise. He did gain 7 yards a pop though; I think if I were an Aggie I'd want to know why he only got 17 touches (maybe because we took some opportunities away?). We didn't stop him but we stopped everybody else. Their tight end was as big a non-factor as ours. LDhog: The Aggies are soft. They were whipped badly at the line of scrimmage. Hogmmodo: … They think they LET us win by sloppy play like too many penalties (news flash: we had just as many penalties), bad play calling (agree with that) and nothing we did made any difference in the outcome. Despite the fact that our curb-stomping of their hated in state 'Horn rivals should have gotten their complete attention. They like to think they were just so bored with beating us nine times in a row that they forgot to prepare for or care about the game. The monumental fact that they are clueless about is, they just got blown past by another SEC West program and that, once UT & OU arrive, it will happen again. This is the turning point that puts the Aggies back where they belong, in the bottom half of the SEC West. armyhog: It's hard to swallow getting your butt kicked and that was what should have happened at least four or five other games in the series. There wasn't a big play found or a bogus call by a zebra to save the soft Aggies … Suck it up and have the heart to say you got beat! eurohog: He's as delusional as their weird fans. Checking out the Ag message board was as expected. Most wrote off our win over Texas as being worthless because the 'Horns are weak. There is a chance UT will pass them in the rankings this week. worldseriesofporker: Sounds like his mouth is faster than he is. ClayHenry: Spiller's opening comments were meaningful. First thing he said, "They outplayed us." True dat. PRAISE FOR RAZORBACK DEFENSIVE END TRE' WILLIAMS, WHO HAD A BREAKOUT GAME AGAINST TEXAS A&M … marcm: He was a beast … Dude got some beast mode for sure! tuschhog: I was first today to say that T. Williams will be honored as SEC best defensive player of the week, and maybe the nation. He deserves it! hollywoodbeachhog: First nominee for the WholeHogSports Pat Yourself on the Back Award! thehuntinhog: I called that play, Chuck. WHAT WILL GEORGIA DO SATURDAY TO SLOW DOWN THE RAZORBACK OFFENSE? youdaman: They are going to come after us and see if we can execute under pressure. Their linebackers are insanely fast) and they have four or five great defensive line pass rushers. Will be by far our offensive line's biggest challenge. Hope we have some screens and hot routes ready because they are coming! gentryrzrbk: A running QB can offset some of that pass rush. If they aren't disciplined, we can use that aggressiveness against them. youdaman: Yeah, the thing about blitzing is if you break the line of scrimmage you got a lot of grass ahead of you. But they are very well coached. Everybody hits their gap. votan: I think Georgia is gonna be serving grilled pork next Saturday and there is not a whole lot we can do about it. generalhog: If this team has taught us anything, it's not to count them out, but since most pundits keep saying we have no shot, I say keep it up. ESPN'S COLLEGE GAMEDAY SHOW WILL ORIGINATE FROM THE SITE OF THE ARKANSAS- GEORGIA GAME … daboar: Who thought, "Arkansas- Georgia for Game Day," back in July? MattJones: Or even 15 days ago? LDhog: Only Sam Pittman, the coaches and team. They are fearless. FANS PREDICT THE SCORE OF SATURDAY'S GAME AT GEORGIA … bsyouhog: Our outstanding kicker hits a 51-yard field goal as time expires to beat Georgia, 28-27. davispard: Not to nit pick, but for our Hogs to get to 28 points with game winning field goal will require a bit of "ciphering'! SwineFusion: Miss an extra point and kick five field goals. byouhog: We force a safety. stillgreghog: UGA is good. Very good. We are better than we have been in years, but still not nearly as good as UGA. The game is at UGA. Dogs 38, Hogs 17. Here is hoping I am so so wrong! planohog: The Hogs defense is gonna shine like no other time before and after a tight game Hogs get a late turnover kick the game winning FG with time running out. Hogs win in a shocker! Hogs 10, Dawgs 7. neastarkie: I'm afraid to pick us this week. We're something like an 18- or 19-point underdogs, so I wouldn't hesitate at all to take us against the spread. But I'm afraid it'll be something like 28-14, UGA. georgiahawg: If we can keep Georgia less than 21 points think we have a chance to win. Georgia only scored 10 on a not so great Clemson team. Think we can hold them to 20. The key is can we score more than 20 points. With KJ Jefferson improving each week and passing like a seasoned veteran, Burks, Morris and the four-headed running back monster we are creating think we have a real shot at this. I am a homer and while living in Georgia surrounded by the Dawg nation I have to go with Arkansas to win. This year is 1998 all over again and this time we don't stumble and fumble at the end. AR. 24, GA. 20 ricemab54: Georgia has most of the advantages. They should be favored to win. However, the point spread is ridiculously big. That should be taken as just another insult to the Razorback football team. Sam Pittman will have the team ready to play. If Georgia is not ready to play, they will fall to the Hogs. Arkansas 27, Georgia 21. swinebeforepearls: In past big games where both UGA and the Hogs were nationally ranked, Arkansas has done pretty well: 1969 Sugar Bowl, 1976 Cotton Bowl (showing my age here). I'm going with history – instead of Montgomery to Dicus, now it's Jefferson to Burks – but the score is the same: Hogs 16, Dogs 2. sweetchildofswine: Arkansas is playing better than anyone I've seen this year. Hogs 23, Dogs 21. HogDoctor: I don't think Georgia's offense will score a lot against our defense but the same applies to our offense. This one will be about turnovers, special teams and defense. Dogs 17, Hogs 14. Hope I'm wrong. jmetsrule: I think UGA comes out early and goes up 17-3 at half. We then come out with a fire in the second half, score two TDs and another two field goals. And we limit them to a field goal in the second half. We pull the upset. 23-20 Hogs. batonrougehog: I really love these Hogs, no matter what the outcome! If I pick them to win and it doesn't happen, I'll be devastated. If I pick them to lose and they win, I'll be overjoyed! So, let's say after a very close first half, UGA wins, 31-17. Store better have a nice Black Angus choice ribeye available and one of my better red wines better still be good if my Hogs win this one! suigeneris: Georgia coach Kirby Smart decides he's not going to let Treylon Burks beat him. Can the other Hog skill players step up? Almost, but not quite. Georgia, 27-17. MalvernHog: I'm vacillating between "omgomgomgomg" and, "Wait a minute, this is basically the same team we took to the wire last year." We won't get any calls our way and their stadium's worth three points. IF KJ and Treylon are good to go and don't get banged up in the game, we've got a pretty good shot at these guys. Arkansas 24, Georgia 20. razorwill: Bubble bursts for one week. Georgia rested and getting players back, first team rested after first quarter against Vandy. Hogs a little sore and beat up. Hard to have max effort two games in a row. Georgia 35, Hogs 16. lilhawg: Looks potentially like one of those classic games us old timers like to recall. These Hawgs are real, but can they win against the No. 2 team in the country at their place? The answer is yes, 17-15. bballhawg: 12-9, Dawgs on the seventh field goal of the game. davispard: Hogs 7, Dawgs 0. UGA scored way too many points last week. They come up empty this week. BEST OF THE WEB He's going to throw. That helps the preparation for Odom. He can call blitzes with man- to-man coverage with confidence that Daniels is not going to call a quarterback draw or scramble. It's just not in the makeup of the UGA quarterback to take off on a scramble. Conversely, Jefferson goes into games knowing that he's going to take off anytime there's an opportunity. At 6-3, 245, he's bigger than defensive backs and will try to punish them. It's a great deterrent to blitz calls. You leave your secondary in man-to-man, Jefferson will exploit it with his feet. FREE YARDS The Hogs have drawn too many flags in most games this season. The exception was against Texas when a Big 12 crew kept flags in their pockets for 60 minutes. Otherwise, it's been way too many penalties for the Hogs. They can't keep giving up free yards, especially against good teams on the road. Georgia qualifies. The Hogs average 78.8 penalty yards, that's a national rank of 122. Georgia is somewhat better at 52.5 penalty yards per game, 59th nationally. If this number is close, the Hogs have a much better chance at an upset. PHYSICALITY It's one of my keys almost every week. Football is a mean, nasty game at its core. If ever there was a game that smacks of physicality, it's this one. Defense should reign supreme. There is little doubt that Georgia coaches and players know what they are up against in Pittman, someone who preached physical nastiness when he was assistant head coach under Smart. They know Pittman's goal is to outhit the opponent. Expect the Bulldogs to step up to the challenge. That's respect. For the most part, the Hogs are 4-0 because they outhit their opponents at the line of scrimmage on most plays. Texas A&M did not take one snap in the Arkansas red zone last week. It's an incredible statistic. To do that, two things must happen: you can't turn the ball over or make mistakes in the kicking game. Arkansas was perfect in those two categories and you must be physical for four quarters. That's the recipe for an upset and the Hogs are an underdog by 18.5 points on this road trip. Is it doable? Yes, I went with the Hogs on Sunday morning for our magazine prediction, still in the euphoric condition of a big victory. It's almost one week later and I feel no different. Georgia has better players if you go through an entire roster, but the Hogs know the recipe and have begun to get all of the key ingredients correct to win in the SEC. No one is counting out Pittman's team. They play like wild banshees, or to put it in the right perspective, like Fighting Razorbacks.
