September 2021 Page 3 Alex Brown Inside INdiana Business INDIANAPOLIS — The co- owner and chief executive officer of IBJ Media says the acquisition of Inside INdiana Business will be a great complement to the Indianapolis Business Journal team and set the stage for state- wide growth. The Indianapolis-based com- pany announced Aug. 31 that IIB will become a division of IBJ Media with Gerry Dick serving as president. "The talents that Gerry's team has acquired over the last 20-plus years, the Inside INdiana Business platform brings an immense value," said Nate Feltman, Co-Owner and publish- er, Indianapolis Business Journal. In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Feltman said he wants to bring a more state- wide appeal to IBJ Media. "Up until this point, we've really been focused under my time with the IBJ in getting deeper here in central Indiana and we've grown our subscriber base by nearly 40% over the last three years," said Feltman. "But ... how do we grow on a more statewide basis? How do we connect busi- ness people and professionals and government leaders and county and city leaders throughout our state, how do we connect them better?" Dick started Grow INdiana Media Ventures, the parent of IIB, in 2000 after 19 years in television news and says the deci- sion to join IBJ Media was not taken lightly. "There are very few organiza- tions or partners that make sense. IBJ Media is the perfect match and what we can accomplish going forward, really the sky's the limit," Dick said. "I think the other piece of it that's really important is local ownership. "Local ownership in news is unfortunately becoming less and less a thing; corporate, out-of- state ownership has become the trend in many ways," Dick said. This is a deal that brings growth and it brings local ownership to business news coverage here in central Indiana and around the state, and I think the opportuni- ties are substantial." Feltman appeared Sept. 5 on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick to talk more about the acquisition.
