Charger finishers were: junior Chanley placing 26th with a time of 19:06, freshman Blaine Barnett placing 34th with a time of 19:30, sopho- more Shane Woodhull plac- ing 83rd with a time of 22:17, freshman Tyler DeCoursey placing 108th with a time of 25:32 and freshman Carter Blackwell placing 117th with a time of 28:58. Head Coach Randy Graham said, "South Knox has a chal- lenging course that tends to run slow. On top of that, it was an extremely hot and humid morning, making it even more difficult. Both teams were missing some runners today so it took a big effort from ev- erybody." "The girls' team still man- aged to pull out a fourth place finish and Xavery came away as the invitational winner, which is a big accomplish- ment." "We are really proud of both teams today battling through some adversity. We look for- ward to hosting our invitation- al next Saturday and hope to have some of our other kids back." MS girls' XC places 8th at South Knox By Matthew Haycraft The Pike Central Middle School cross country teams competed at the South Knox Invitational on Saturday, Sep- tember 18. The middle school Chargers competed against Princeton Community, Cas- tle, Gibson Southern, South Knox, North Posey, Barr- Reeve, north Knox, Evansville Memorial, Mater Dei, North Daviess, Vincennes Clark, Linton-Stockton, Southridge, Shakamak, Tecumseh, East- ern Greene, Clay City, Evans- ville Christian Washington Catholic, Shoals, WJHS, St. James Catholic, Evansville Rivet and North Central. Out of the 25 schools com- peting, the Pike Central Mid- dle School girls' team placed eighth, with a top five average time of 13:59. Princeton Com- munity took first with a top five combined time of 12:55. The Pike Central Middle School girls' team placers were: seventh grader Kylie Mey- er placing 30th with a time of 13:29, seventh grader Emiley Riker placing 41st with a time of 13:49, eighth grader Kylee Weathers placing 51st with a time of 13:59, seventh grader Jessa Ridao placing 56th with a time of 14:08, seventh graders Ava Miller placing 71st with a time of 14:24, sixth grader Eva Cox placing 95th with a time of 15:01 and seventh grader Ca- leigh Cox placing 132nd with a time of 17:01. The Pike Central Middle School boys' team ended up not placing at this event due to an incomplete team. In the middle school boys' division, South Knox took first with a top five combined time of 11:11. Charger boys placing were: eighth grader Jacoby Smith placing 52nd with a time of 12:24, fifth grader Taylor Rus- sell placing 110th with a time of 14:15, sixth grader Kade Benner placing 123rd with a time of 15:20 and sixth grad- er Joshua Smith placing 126th with a time of 15:46.
