In the number one singles, Charger freshman Eli Arnold lost to Forest Park's Kris Fuhrman 6 -2, 3-6, 5 -7, and the team lost by forfeit in the number two and three singles. Charger freshmen Parker Knust and Nate Carter were defeated by Bryson Parten- heimer and Carter Fleik, of Forest Park, 0 -6, 4-6 in the number one doubles. In the number two doubles, Char- ger freshman Adon LeMond and Jayden Bolin lost in three sets by a score of 1-6, 6 -4, 2-6. The Chargers faced Gibson Southern on Wednesday, Sep- tember 15 and were defeated 0 -5. In the number one singles, Arnold lost to Titan Eliott Church, after losing 3-6 the first round and having to re- tire. Knust lost out to Landon Kiesel in the number two sin- gles 2-6, 2-6. While in the number three singles, Char- ger freshman Nate Carter was defeated by Gibson South- ern's Lucas Church by scores of 0 -6, 1-6. Chargers LeMond and Bolin lost in the number one doubles to Titans Carson Brindle and Jake Decker 0 -6, 2-6. There was no number two doubles game that day. For their last game of the week, the Chargers played Boonville on their home court Thursday, September 16 and lost by a score of 1-3. Pike Central Charger Knust defeated Boonville's Nick Murphy by scores of 6 -1, 6 - 2 in the number one singles. While in the number two sin- gles, Carter lost to Kyle Denk, of Boonville, 4-6, 3-6. In doubles against Boon- ville, Pike Central played on- ly the number one doubles, with Chargers LeMond and Bolin losing in a tiebreaker 7- 6 (6 -10), 4-6. Head Coach Brent Beck stated, "Although we didn't win any team matches this week, we competed well, and that bodes well for us going in- to the final week of the sea- son. We have several confer- ence matches scheduled for the last week of the season, as we will then be ready for sectional play the following week." A fter this week, the Pike Central Charger boys' tennis team sits at 2-9 overall and has a 1-7 conference record. MS boys' tennis takes some wins The Pike Central Mid- dle School boys' tennis team played against South Knox last week, losing in the varsi- ty matches by 1-4. Despite the score, the boys were able to secure some wins. Charger Eli Keeker won against South Knox in varsi- ty singles, while in the sec- ond round matches, Eli Keek- er, Llinkyn Knust, Kade Ben- ner and Tyler Collins won in doubles. Charger Cainan Rus- sell won the second round sin- gles match.
