The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, September 17, 2021 20 By Dana Simpson TV Media 'Dancing' the night away:After 30 years in the biz, ABC's hit competition series "Dancing With the Stars," of- ten affectionately known by the acronym DWTS, is taking its biggest steps yet. During a TCA panel on Aug. 26, host Tyra Banks ("America's Next Top Model") and executive producer Andrew Llinares an- nounced the show will feature its first-ever same-sex profes- sional partnership this season. Viewers can catch all the ac- tion when Season 30 kicks off Monday, Sept. 20, on ABC. Shortly after announcing tri- ple-threat YouTuber Jojo Siwa ("Dance Moms") and Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Suni Lee as being among the dancers on the newest season of DWTS, the show announced Siwa would be half of an all-fe- male dance partnership. Siwa, who recently came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, took to social me- dia to share her excitement in DWTS's decision to involve her in the show's shift away from traditional dancing structures. "I think it's cool," Siwa said. "I think it's really special that I get to share with the world that you can love who you love, but now you can dance with who you want to dance with." In addition to Siwa and Lee, the other celebrities looking to scorch the floorboards on the show this year were unveiled as a part of "Good Morning America's" broadcast on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Since its inception in 2005, DWTS has seen the likes of countless singers, movie stars, athletes and public figures showing off their skills (or, in- deed, trying to acquire some) in the most entertaining ways. From "Seinfeld" actor John O'Hurley and boxing champion Evander Hollyfield in Season 1 to "Desperate Housewives'" hot gardener Jesse Metcalfe, rapper/R&B star Nelly ("The Longest Yard," 2005), and first- place winner and Canada's own Kaitlyn Bristowe ("The Bachelorette") last season, "Dancing With the Stars" knows no bounds when it comes to teaching celebs to foxtrot, paso doble and waltz their way toward victory. Don't miss the Season 30 premiere of "Dancing With the Stars," featuring Jojo Siwa and Suni Lee, when it airs Monday, Sept. 20, on ABC. realtalk B/The Pine Shop 6x7.5 Oreck Vacuum Sales and Service, Bags & Belts for many other Brands UP TO 20% OFF DINING ROOM SETS
