With 14 athletes competing for the title of Ultimate Surfer amid a backdrop of surf, sand and, of course, attractive co-stars, this new show is one viewers will not want to miss. Stretching the show's offi- cial premiere across two nights, Aug. 23 and 24, "The Ultimate Surfer" is an all-new eight-episode series hosted by Jesse Palmer ("Food Truck Face Off") and featuring commen- tary from sports anchor Erin Coscarelli ("Fantasy & Friends") and "the voice of surfing" himself, Joe Turpel ("2020 Tokyo Summer Olym- pics"). Together, the broadcasting team welcomes a roster of 14 American surfers, seven wom- en and seven men, said to be among the best up-and-com- ers in the sport across the country. Following their arrival at the World Surf League's Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California, the athletes take part in a se- ries of team, partnered and in- dividual challenges for the chance at competing in the WSL Championship Tour, which takes place on some of the world's toughest and most no- toriously powerful waves. And while surfing is the driv- ing force behind the series, it wouldn't be unscripted televi- sion if there wasn't a bit of love and drama.
