Above: 1999: e 1990s brought another loss to the area, the historic Placida Fishery. It was once the hub of the huge southwest Florida fishing industry sometimes shipping out as many as six railroad cars a week of fish which went all over the world. In its later years, it was run by Eunice Albritton, daughter of the the original owner, the only woman in Florida to operate a fishery at the time.
