Kris- ten Bell ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall," 2008) and hubby Dax Shepard ("CHIPS," 2017) pioneer their newest project, "Family Game Fight!" immedi- ately following the 2020 Sum- mer Olympics closing ceremo- ny on Sunday, Aug. 8, on NBC. The adorable duo — and co- stars from such films as "When in Rome" (2010), "Hit and Run" (2012) and "The Boss" (2016) — welcome two fami- lies to the show and are each "adopted" into opposing fami- lies. Then, Bell and Shepard each lead their half of the fami- ly in a series of games designed to inspire high-spirited (friend- ly?) competition. (To keep things fair, the couple switches teams halfway through each episode.) Competition is no stranger in Bell and Shepard's own rela- tionship, as Bell recalled on an episode of "The Ellen DeGe- neres Show" back in March. "For one of our first dates, I invited Dax over for a game night at my house with a bunch of friends," Bell said. "He said he fell in love with me there because I was a very tiny person bossing everyone around. I fell in love with him, too, because he's a very large person who could boss every- one around but chooses not to." Competing for the $100,000 grand prize across a series of active challenges named Fruit Loops, Helium Hoops, Nosy Neighbors, Deep Dish Dash, Brain Freeze and more, the families of four featured on "Family Game Fight!" will have a remarkable story to tell regardless of whether they win or lose. "Family Game Fight!" is the first show of its kind to be co- run by a husband-and-wife pair, and it features Ellen De- Generes as an executive pro- ducer.
